The Senior Finance Director will provide financial and business leadership to drive both the short-and long-term strategies for the Global CSS End to End (E2E) Supply Chain. Additionally, this role will provide direct business partner support to the CSS Supply Chain organization and will be a member of the CSS Supply Chain Leadership team.
This position is key to maximizing value within the supply chain, managing a high degree of complexity within demand & supply, ensuring quality & compliance, and making the very best decisions across a diverse network of internal and external manufacturing to support the growth agenda for J&J MedTech.
Key Activities for this position include but are not limited to:
Lead a diverse team of ~50 associates (including 7 direct reports) supporting currently 7 internal manufacturing sites and a network of suppliers & external manufacturing sites based across North America, Europe / Middle East, and Asia
- Develop, adjust, implement, and maintain organizational design that supports global business partners in multiple locations worldwide
- Develop functional goals and objectives that are aligned with Finance and business unit goals and objectives
- Provide an environment for professional growth of staff which includes actionable feedback, recognition, and rewards as well as coaching and mentoring in support of the staff’s development plan
End-to-End Supply Chain Finance leadership to CSS ($5.3B sales, $1.8B COGS, $0.8B Inventory, $0.2B CAPEX)
- Provide direct finance counsel and leadership support to the Vice President of CSS Supply Chain and indirect support to the CSS Company Group Chairman and CSS CFO
- Partner with CSS Supply Chain Leadership Team, 5 Platform E2E Leaders (Acclarent, BWI, Cerenovus, Mentor and Sterilmed) & related Value Streams to formulate & drive strategic imperatives and collaborate with Commercial, R&D, Supply Chain COE business & finance leadership to operate a Global End-to-End SC structure and deliver on profitability & cashflow targets
- Orchestrate P&L Gross Profit Improvement across SC and Commercial by driving the value capture plan – New Product Introductions, Portfolio & Life Cycle Management, Manufacturing Excellence / Cost Improvement, Network Optimization, Supplier Reliability, etc.
- Coordination of core financial planning & reporting cycle consolidation and analysis on both a forecast and actual basis (Standard Cost Revision, Business Plan, June & November Updates, Long Range Financial Plan, Exec S&OP, End-to-End Balanced Scorecard, Latest Thinking) to provide performance variance transparency & trend insights, risk management and problem solving as well as project portfolio and headcount funding prioritization across Supply Chain Functions & Value Streams
Base business improvement to deliver standardization, simplicity and agility for planning and reporting while also driving effectiveness in the control environment
- Perform external and internal benchmarking to enhance value and shape ERP functional design and simplification as the CSS supply chain network evolves over the LRFP
- Encourage participation and adoption of various Corporate, Enterprise and MedTech Supply Chain Finance initiatives (e.g., Credo Survey Actions, SigniFi / TranSCend ERP system / process improvements, etc.)
- Ensure SOX controls and GAAP compliance standards are fully met for all processes and locations
Major Duties & Responsibilities
- E2E Strategy and Value Stream Decision Leadership: Orchestrate gross profit & network strategy by providing financial support to business cases for investment decisions, new product introductions / cost savings opportunities as well as developing, cascading & driving delivery of financial P&L, Balance Sheet & Cashflow targets
- Planning, Forecasting & Standard Cost Setting Coordination: challenge priorities & assumptions with business partners, build financial models, review financial outputs with management, and influence senior leadership decision making
- Leadership & Development: Serve as a People Manager shaping organizational design, leading recruiting, onboarding / training of new team members as well as driving staff development & succession planning
- Performance Analytics and Reporting: Review and communicate performance drivers, metrics, risks, and opportunities; formulate and drive associated action plans
- Continuous Improvement: Champion efficiencies for financial systems, processes / analytics and support other Enterprise / Franchise ad hoc analyses / projects
- Audit and Compliance: oversite of internal controls for both SOX and local statutory requirements, support internal/external audits
- Strong analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to work independently and appropriately plan, prioritize, and communicate progress on multiple deliverables in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Should possess sophisticated business intuition, including the passion to develop business cases and implement strategies as well as the ability to think about the broader J&J business, and lead through ambiguity to deliver core operational results aligned to business objectives
- Should demonstrate big picture thinking while balancing with appropriate attention to detail, confidentiality, accuracy, and sound judgment in delivering business outcomes
- Prior people management experience with proven ability to inspire, empower & develop talent
- Proficiency to network, collaborate and generate consensus effectively in a complex, international environment possessing strong social skills, promoting inclusion, and building trusting relationships with business partners across all cultures and levels of the organization
- A proven track record of leading peers and business partners and influencing Senior Management
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Solid understanding of cost accounting and project controlling principles
- Prior experience driving manufacturing site start-up, network transformation, acquisition integration and / or standardization of supply chain finance activities
- Previous experience and knowledge of ERP functionality & master data setup (JDE/SAP), Sales & Operations Planning process, international legal entity statutory & regulatory requirements, trade compliance / intercompany product & financial flows, labor agreements and financial audits
For U.S. applicants, in accordance with applicable disclosure requirements, the anticipated base pay range for this position is $160,000 to $276,000. The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
