Senior Geospatial Associate

Remuneration: Exempt

The Senior Geospatial Professional will work as part of a GIS team to deliver mapping support for solar, wind, and storage projects across North, Central, and South America by coordinating the production aspects of projects in regards to map deliverables and web map solutions; work in close collaboration with other teams within RWE including Development, Engineering, Resource Assessment, and Legal; demonstrate a proficiency of geospatial technology, data acquisition, spatial analysis, and cartographic deliverables; support projects independently under the supervision of the Geospatial Director.

Responsibilities

  • Perform geospatial analysis to assess the suitability of potential sites for renewable energy projects, considering factors such as topography, wind speed, land use, and environmental constraints.
  • Acquire, organize, and maintain geospatial datasets, including satellite imagery, environmental and ALTA surveys, LiDAR data, land cover data, and other relevant sources. Ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Design web-based and static GIS products to communicate geospatial data effectively to other teams, stakeholders, and management, as well as for data-sharing and decision-making.
  • Develop spatial models and algorithms to support renewable energy planning and optimization. Analyze and interpret outputs to inform project design and other internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including project managers, engineers, and construction to provide GIS support through project lifecycles. Offer technical expertise, guidance, and training to colleagues on GIS-related tools and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with latest trends and best practices in GIS and renewable energy. Identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and innovation within the GIS domain.
  • Work in a collaborative team setting with the GIS team and other internal stakeholders to identify effective solutions for project development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Geography, Geodetic Engineering/Science, GIS, or related field; or equivalent work experience
  • Proficiency with Esri ArcGIS products including Pro, Desktop, ArcGIS Online, relational databases
  • Familiarity with renewable energy technologies, such as solar, wind, battery storage, or hydrogen
  • Knowledge of spatial modeling techniques and proficiency in scripting languages (e.g. Python, R) or FME
  • 4-6 years’ experience as a GIS Analyst, or equivalent experience
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Strong organizational skills with demonstrated ability to work on multiple projects and achieve deliverables on time in a high paced work environment.

Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in California and New York City is $$78K- $118K The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
