THE ROLE:

Are you experienced in business development and procurement, with a deep understanding of Indigenous cultures and communities? We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Indigenous Relations Advisor to join our team and play a pivotal role in our organization's commitment to building strong, lasting partnerships with Indigenous communities.

Located in Calgary and reporting to the Manager of Indigenous Relations, you will collaborate with Indigenous communities in our operating area of northeast BC, to build and implement local business development and inclusion strategies. You will be accountable for working closely with Indigenous communities, Indigenous leaders, and local businesses to develop new opportunities and build long-term, positive relationships.
HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:
  • Support the implementation of PETRONAS Canada’s Indigenous Relations Strategy through collaborative development and implementation of economic, business and employment opportunities for local Indigenous communities and businesses
  • Work closely with Indigenous communities to identify opportunities, incorporating community values and perspectives into business development strategies
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to imbed inclusion, collaboration and transparency into strategies, policies, and practices
  • Identify, recommend and facilitate opportunities for Indigenous equity participation
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as Supply Chain Management (SCM), to develop Indigenous business and support the company’s procurement needs
  • Proactively engage with Indigenous communities and leadership to measure and report progress towards jointly established business development and inclusion objectives
  • Foster strong, active relationships with Indigenous businesses and entrepreneurs
WHAT YOU BRING:
  • 7-10 years of related experience with a strong understanding of Indigenous engagement and business development
  • A post-secondary education in a related field; a master’s degree in business administration is an asset
  • Proven track record of building successful relationships with Indigenous communities, businesses, and entrepreneurs.
  • Knowledge of supply chain processes and contract management
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous rights, history, culture and the importance of Truth and Reconciliation
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong project management and organizational abilities
  • Ability and willingness to travel to field locations as required
