SENIOR INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS ASSOCIATE
We seek an experienced senior communications associate to join the team in our Evanston, IL or San Diego, CA office. The senior internal communications associate will serve as a global channel strategist, focusing primarily on the development and delivery of effective employee communications for the firmwide audience. In addition to experience in internal communications and employee engagement, this candidate should possess a talent for transforming virtually any topic into attention-grabbing content that furthers ZS’s vision and strategy.
Responsibilities:

Contribute to and support the execution of an effective global communication strategy for ZS, partnering to ensure consistent messaging across our firm.

Serve as managing editor and primary content owner of ZS’s weekly newsletter, the primary vehicle for reaching 13,000 employees. Manage editorial calendar, craft and shape stories, partner with corporate communications team and ZS leadership on final approvals, advise on or create graphics, execute on end-to-end production and delivery.

Own the strategy for ZS’s global digital signage program including designing and deploying global news, mastering the technology and empowering local users with the skills they need to keep office-level content maintained.

Act as resident channel expert on the internal communications team. Create and strategically execute content for all other internal channels including the intranet, social collaboration hub, all hands meetings, live and virtual employee events, videos. Develop best practices and toolkits that enable the communications team and ZS stakeholders to leverage internal channels effectively.
- Measure the effectiveness of internal channels by tracking metrics and trends, using data to consistently improve ZS’s internal communications based on employees’ needs.

Proactively identify opportunities to streamline content and appropriately amplify and/or cascade messages.

Liaise and partner with key stakeholders from across ZS to understand their business objectives and communication needs, working with them to develop and implement communication plans.

Ensure consistency of messaging as well as adherence to editorial and brand standards.

Consistently evaluate and measure existing practices, making thoughtful recommendations for improvement where appropriate.

Develop toolkits and templates to empower communication champions across the firm.

Help ensure leadership is attuned to the voice of the employee.
Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing or related field required
-
4+ years of work experience in business writing and editing, preferably in a complex, matrixed environment
-
Knowledge of AP Style and strong writing and editing abilities
-
Superb written and oral communication skills, including previous experience with multifaceted message development and conducting interviews

Demonstrated ability to manage internal client relationships, including with senior leaders
-
Able to lead multiple projects simultaneously, effectively prioritize and consistently meet competing deadlines
-
Experience producing digital signage preferred
-
Experience managing online communication (publications, portals, intranets); prior experience with internal email tools, SharePoint and Yammer is a plus

Familiarity with design and graphics production preferred; Canva experience a plus

Enthusiastic self-starter eager to learn from and contribute to a dynamic team

Deadline-driven individual with the ability to work independently with minimal support

Exceptional interpersonal skills and adept at building strong partnerships across a global organization
