Senior Learning & Development Specialist

Summary:

As a key member of People Services, the Senior Learning & Development Specialist contributes to all aspects of employee learning. You will focus primarily on the development of training content related to professional skills, core competencies, and culture. Training content will be created in a variety of formats, including Articulate courses (Rise, Storyline), videos (Camtasia), and step-by-step documents. Other areas of responsibility include leadership development, facilitation of live training, and needs analysis activities.

Essential Duties:

  • Develop and/or source training content related to NISC industries, core competencies, and culture.
  • Coordinate with management to identify and assign training resources to support continued employee development.
  • Develop new employee orientation content and curriculum.
  • Serve as key project team member, assisting with critical tasks: establishing timelines, communicating requirements, tracking status, proposing adjustments, if needed, and meeting project objectives and goals.
  • Work closely with management, subject matter experts, and the NISC Learning Center to create and maintain persona-based learning paths and content for new employees.
  • Design and apply assessment tools to measure training effectiveness while tracking and reporting on training outcomes.
  • Co-manage Learning Management System (LMS) in cooperation with NISC Learning Center staff.
  • Participate in cross-functional employee learning team to develop and coordinate organization-wide learning initiatives.
  • Prepare and deliver live training, as requested.
  • Coordinate delivery of third-party training, as requested.
  • Assist with coordination of leadership development program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred:

  • 5+ years of related experience preferred, including experience in Articulate courses (Rise, Storyline), videos (Camtasia), and development of step-by-step documents.
  • Working level knowledge of business-related software applications and services.
  • Working level knowledge in instructional design principles and adult learning best practices.
  • Demonstration of effective training facilitation skills.
  • Strong writing skills and experience in technical and instructional writing.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong ability to demonstrate initiative and accountability.
  • Moderate level knowledge in project management best practices and theory.
  • Experience of complex work involving cross-divisional collaboration preferred.
  • Moderate level research and problem-solving skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to travel as often as necessary to meet the goals and objectives of the position.

Education Preferred:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business-related field or equivalent experience.
