Job Description


The AutoGrid technology team is looking for an IT Senior Manager to play a key role as business enabler. This role will report to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and work cross-functionally with Cybersecurity, Engineering, SRE, DevOps, Market Ops, Customer Delivery, Sales, Solution, Finance, HR etc. Ideally, we need someone with extensive experience performing strategic management and hands-on roles with IT functions at fast moving technology startups. We expect this person to be based in the San Francisco Bay Area and work from our Redwood Shores office at least a few days per week.


Essential Responsibilities and Duties


  • IT leader for AutoGrid’s worldwide operations - supporting nearly 200 people across the US, India, and Europe.
  • Oversee and manage the outsourced IT vendors who perform laptop provisioning and deprovisioning, along with 24x7 global IT support.
  • Manage user account creation, changes, and deprovisioning for all hosted applications (Google Workspace, Dropbox, Salesforce, Zoom, Smartsheet, Slack, Jira and various commercial, financial and SaaS based business productivity applications).
  • Experience using and administering tools such as G-Suite, Microsoft 365, Jira, Dropbox, Slack and Okta.
  • Keep systems and applications patched and updated in a timely manner.
  • Research and implement new applications and services used by individual teams and company-wide in business functions including Engineering, Cybersecurity, HR, Marketing, Product Management, Accounting, Customer Support, and Legal (Salesforce, Okta, KeePass, Slack, Jira, etc)
  • Manage the vendor onboarding process - from inception to go-live, including long-term support strategy and resourcing.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team for cloud infrastructure system support where necessary.
  • Partner with cybersecurity team for endpoint protection, cloud systems security and incident response
  • Troubleshoot and escalate system errors to help minimize system downtime.
  • Ensure IT and business data backups are properly designed, implemented and operating effectively.
  • Provide regular updates for effectiveness and efficiency of the IT and business systems.


Additional Desired Skills and Capabilities


  • Experience with AWS and Azure administration.
  • Experience with software development methodologies and functions such as Agile, SDL, release management.
  • Ability to design systems and workflows to automate and make hosted systems management more efficient.
  • Ability to support audit processes, including developing processes, improving processes and providing periodic evidence for auditors and the audit support team.
  • Ability to strategize with Engineering and Cybersecurity on strategies and tools to address fast-developing cybersecurity threats or breaches.
  • Ability to develop / script applications for integration of internal tools and applications.
  • Experience with the Energy and Industrial Domains.


Qualifications and Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree plus seven years relevant IT operations and service management experience.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of IT and OT industry trends and emerging technologies and an ability to relate them to AutoGrid’s business and product objectives.
  • Advanced knowledge and understanding of networking protocols, principles and devices.
  • In-depth cloud system architecture and configuration knowledge.
  • Experience with IT policies, standards, guidelines and procedures.
  • In-depth knowledge of access management, business continuity, authorization, identity management and encryption methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of industry standard information security practices such as SOC 2 and ISO 27001 is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences and work with individuals at all levels.
  • Certification relevant to Information Technology is desired (e.g. CompTIA A+, ITIL, CCNA, CCNP etc.)
  • 5+ years at any leading SaaS firm, startup firm, or energy/product software firm.

This role is Redwood City, CA based and requires on-site office presence at least 2-3 days a week. The anticipated salary range for fully qualified candidates applying for this position is $140,000 - $155,000. Factors such as relevant experience, education, duration of experience, and length of industry experience will influence the actual salary offered. In addition to the base salary, AutoGrid offers a performance-based bonus, the opportunity to participate in stock programs, and a comprehensive benefits package.
