Position Details
Information Technology and Security, Media Services at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Senior Media Services Technician. We seek a skilled and dedicated Senior Media Services Technician to join our team. The incumbent will provide technical support and ensure the smooth operation of media equipment and services for faculty, staff, students, and community groups. This role requires a solid technical background, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain audiovisual equipment, including projectors, sound systems, cameras, video conferencing systems, and other multimedia devices.
- Set up and operate media equipment for meetings, presentations, and other organizational activities.
- Troubleshoot technical issues with media equipment and provide timely resolutions to ensure uninterrupted functionality.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to plan and execute multimedia projects, ensuring seamless audio and visual components integration.
- Stay updated with emerging media technologies and industry trends, recommending enhancements to equipment.
- Make recommendations to the Senior Audio-Visual Engineer, that assists in the design and implementation of audiovisual systems for new spaces, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
- Adhere to safety protocols and best practices in handling and operating media equipment.
- Supervise and train student employees, ensuring the efficient operation of student employee activities and offering comprehensive training to foster skill development and adherence to organizational protocols.
- Facilitate comprehensive training for faculty and staff members, focusing on classroom technology and its diverse capabilities. Effectively impart the necessary knowledge and skills to enable seamless integration and utilization of cutting-edge technological resources within the educational environment.
- Systematically record and meticulously manage an inventory of equipment and supplies. Demonstrate proficiency in maintaining accurate and up-to-date documentation, ensuring seamless tracking and organization of essential resources.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree or equivalent certification in a related field (e.g., Audiovisual Technology, Multimedia).
- Proven experience in providing technical support for media equipment, audiovisual systems, and multimedia software.
- Strong knowledge of audiovisual technologies, including projectors, sound systems, video conferencing systems, cameras, and other multimedia devices.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues related to media equipment, connectivity, and software.
- Familiarity with multimedia software and tools such as media players, video editing software, and content management systems.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks effectively.
- Knowledge of safety protocols and best practices in handling media equipment.
- Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.

Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Summer: Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Evenings and weekends as required.
