Getty Images works with over 496,000 contributors and image partners around the globe who add 8-10 million new assets each quarter to the 534 million assets contained in our catalogue. Making Getty Images one of the world’s largest commercial archives.

There are 2 fundamental questions the Getty Images Search & Ranking Team are working to solve:

"If an image is worth a thousand words, wouldn’t it be nice if we didn’t have to type a thousand words to find it?"

And:

"What do we do when an image is our search query, instead of text entered into a field"

To find a solution to these questions, we are building a highly efficient, Artificially Intelligent (AI) Image search engine that pushes the boundaries of Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Visual Search Machine Learning (ML).

The Search Team at Getty Images is responsible for building something that has never been built before, on a scale that will challenge the best of the best Engineers.

Who You Are:

Experience building and operating complex distributed systems at scale
Empathy for users and their business goals
Proven experience building and leading software engineering teams with a focus on inclusion and diversity
Tenacity and the ability to balance competing priorities across multiple cross-functional stakeholders
Orientation towards long-term impact as the yardstick for prioritization, but able to strike the right balance between short-term goals and longer-term vision
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
Curiosity and pragmatism

What you’ll need to succeed:

Strong skills in C#, Java, and other object-oriented languages
Working knowledge of search algorithms and their practical applications.
Hands-on experience with AWS Technologies (Such as Dynamo, ECS, EC2, S3)
Experience with containers and container schedulers (Docker, ECS)

Highly Desirable Technical Experience:

Familiarity with the following: Solr / Lucene; Spark; Kafka
Knowledge or experience with FAISS, vector search, or NLP
Understanding and utilization of scripting languages such as Bash, Python and Ruby
Experience with CI/CD and Gitlab
Experience with monitoring tools such as Splunk, Grafana, and Prometheus

Mental and Physical Demands:

Frequent communication with others to exchange information.
Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting/standing; Time of each will vary.
Constant operation of computer and frequent usage of other office machinery, including (but not limited to) calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
Frequent repetition of motions and gestures that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. (Required)

The starting salary range for this position at time of posting is USD 92,000 to USD 122,600 per annum. Getty Images has different ranges in different locations within the US, and this range represents the starting base pay range. Actual compensation will depend on factors including but not limited to: qualifications, geographic location, skills, experience, certification, business needs, performance, and level of responsibility along with the requirements of the position. The company reserves the right to modify this pay range at any point in the future. Health Insurance

We provide Medical, Vision, and Dental insurance for you and your family. We partner with Meritain (An Aetna Company), and CVS Caremark to provide you with two options for medical coverage - a POS plan and an HSA-qualified (Health Savings Account) Plan. The POS plan comes with a $200 per year Getty Images contribution to an FSA account. If you enroll in the HSA plan, Getty Images will give you $1400-$2400 per year to spend on any qualified health expenses. Dental insurance is available through Delta Dental.
