Senior Software Engineer/Tech Lead

Your Role:

You will be the Team Lead of the new Power Tools team.

This is a small team, initially containing one other engineer and a product manager. You will find the team and then grow it to have at least three engineers. You will spend time coding, working with stakeholders to understand how they use the system and what they need and managing the team.

The team's goal is to empower Alpaca support and broker operations teams to manage our products fully by creating high quality tools for them. There is a small codebase at the moment for this which you will take ownership of and grow extensively to serve your users.

Due to the free access you will have to your users you will be releasing regularly and rapidly and getting immediate feedback from them. This will be a dynamic, wide ranging and rewarding role where you can really take ownership of your product.

This is an ideal position for an experienced engineer who wants to take a first step as a team lead and mentoring will be provided for you in line with your needs.

The Power Tools Team is 100% distributed and remote. This role will be reporting directly to the Director of Engineering, Core Product.

Who You Are (Must-Haves):

A strong, experienced engineer
Full stack experience
Experience of, or a desire to lead a team
Experience of, or a desire to work closely with end users
Experience with Javascript or Typescript and Go
Experience with the react framework

Who You Might Be (Nice-to-Haves):

Good understanding of the financial market
Equities or Crypto trading experience (exchange or brokerage)
Knowledge of Agile methodologies
Experience with postgres or other RDBMS
Experience with node.js
Experience with micro front end architectures
