Senior Tax Manager, Compliance and Reporting

We are looking for a highly motivated, experienced hands-on Senior Tax Manager-Compliance and Reporting to join our growing Tax team. In this role you will be primarily responsible for corporate income tax compliance including US Federal and State, and International (foreign). Be responsible for the preparation and review of the global consolidated interim and annual tax provision and footnote disclosures. Assist with tax planning and tax audits to maximize tax savings opportunities for Chipper. As a well-rounded tax professional, your role will provide insightful and practical advice to help the business and senior management make strategic and tactical decisions for our company. Success in this role is dependent on the individual having a strong working knowledge of accounting for income taxes (ASC 740 and related issues), a well-rounded tax background with an emphasis in tax reporting, and hands on accounting experience.

What Will Be Doing

  • Tax Compliance – Coordinate and review the preparation of all outsourced global corporate income tax returns, filings and payments including, US Federal and State, and international and all applicable supporting work papers. Manage Chipper's IRS transaction reporting disclosure process. Perform research, document and present findings on various tax issues affecting the tax structure either verbally or in written form including, tax law, tax accounting considerations, impact of new or changes to accounting pronouncements and guidance.
  • Financial Reporting – Manage all aspects of income tax accounting and compliance with ASC 740- including interim period computations, forecasting, effective tax rate analysis, current/deferred calculations, taxes payable, valuation allowances, business combinations, indefinite reinvestment assertions, uncertain tax positions, equity compensation, Section 382 analysis, and financial statement presentation/disclosure. Ensure that US current and deferred tax account balances are accurately stated and properly classified through annual reconciliation to underlying asset and liability accounts and/or discrete tax bases. Prepare monthly and quarterly tax account reconciliations. Ensure full compliance with US GAAP tax disclosures by preparing tax data required for all tax footnotes. Oversee the financial statement audit of the income tax provision and internal controls. Mange SOX control testing, documentation and processes related to tax compliance. Develop models to forecast corporate income tax consequences of tax planning strategies, corporate M&A transactions, business combinations, pending legislation and new business initiatives. Analyze the tax aspects of financial projections and forecasts for tax accounting considerations.
  • Collaboration – Serve as the primary tax contact for the Financial Accounting & Reporting department to understand tax impacts of US GAAP accounting policy or method changes, new or nonrecurring transactions, and tax law changes. Advise the Financial Planning & Analysis department as to the forecasted effective tax rate for US GAAP and Non-GAAP purposes and updates throughout the year, as necessary. Advise and update the Treasury Department on quarterly and annual tax cash flow expectations. Act as liaison to other departments who are seeking information and/or guidance relating to income tax.
  • Leadership and Teamwork – Hire, develop, and lead the compliance and reporting team and oversee ASC740 training for the tax department. Train and develop staff members, perform ongoing monthly, quarterly, and annual processes and work with internal and external auditors.
  • Continuous Improvement – Assist in continuous identification and development of efficient tax compliance and tax provision processes, including automation. Developing and implementing tax specific procedural changes and/or processes
  • Support US federal and state as well as international tax audits and exams by preparing/reviewing responses and appropriate analysis.
  • Prepare ad hoc analyses, and assist, lead and/or manage special tax projects including coordination with internal teams and external advisors/consultants as needed.

What You Should Have

  • Bachelor's degree in tax, finance, or accounting
  • CPA, MSA and/or MST
  • Minimum 8 years of related experience working within a public accounting firm and/or multinational company with an emphasis in income tax accounting
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 740 accounting for income taxes and related issues
  • Extensive US federal, State and International (foreign) corporate tax concepts.
  • Prior supervisory experience and/or a demonstrated ability to lead and/or influence a team.
  • Highly organized, detailed and process-oriented person that can develop and hold to specific project plans and timelines.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite or related software, specifically Excel.
  • Collaborative team player with high standards and ethics.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment and manage several tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make judgment-based decisions with a good sense for when escalation and additional communication may be necessary.
  • Independent, self-starter willing to think outside of the box and influence change, and to be proactive in implementing process improvements.
  • Desire to work in a high growth, fast-paced, and constantly evolving environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of tax research software.
  • Experience in CorpTax, and/or One Source.
  • We use Google collaboration tools. While experience in these tools is not required, the ideal candidate will be excited to broaden their knowledge and embrace change
