In 2015, Serverfarm developed its award-winning service platform InCommand with the goal of bringing together the three main elements of a data center: real estate, electrical and mechanical infrastructure, and the IT environment. This portal-based solution combines people, process, and platform, creating a cloud-like experience for data centers. Serverfarm delivers its sustainable Data Center Managemen t as a Service (DMaas) approach at more than 750 locations across forty-five countries.
The Field Services Engineer will provide full life-cycle support to data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance. You will be the ‘go-to’ engineering resource for your region when technical advice is needed. Utilizing your subject matter expertise, you will engage with diverse teams to ensure our data centers operate at peak efficiency and reliability.
- Perform design and equipment submittal review for new data centers in your region.
- Troubleshoot, conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and create Corrective Action (CA) documentation for site/equipment failures.
- Directly support operational issues with ad-hoc training, complex operating procedure reviews, including critical equipment, and event support.
- Own the conceptual design for existing data center upgrades and design solutions, which add capacity, improve availability, increase efficiency, and sustainability.
- Interface with internal data center operations team, data center design engineering team, server hardware team, and environmental health and safety team to promote standards that maintain consistency and reliability in services delivered.
- Develop innovative solutions for data centers.
- Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions.
- Initiate and lead engineering audits, including on-site visits within data centers. Produce reports outlining risks with recommended mitigations and remediations.
- Act as resident engineer during new construction projects. Support construction, commissioning, and turnover.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent training in a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in data center design, engineering, and maintenance, or equivalent Military experience in a mission critical environment.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with a track record of resolving complex technical issues.
- Proven experience in conducting Root Cause Analysis and creating Corrective Action documentation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Experience in developing and implementing innovative solutions in data centers or equivalent Mission Critical environments.
- Ability to travel to various data center locations as required.
