The role

As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at ShiftKey, you will be a key member of our Credentialing team, focused on enhancing one of our core products. You will collaborate daily with the Product, Design, and Analytics teams, actively participating in discussions where your opinions and input will be valued. Your day-to-day work will primarily focus on backend development, dedicating approximately 75% of your efforts to backend tasks and 25% to UI-related work.

We are currently rewriting the core of our old monolithic system into a microservices architecture. Your role will be to help us build a smart, modern, scalable, and robust credentialing platform. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager.

Tech stack: PHP 8+, Laravel 10, MySQL, MongoDB, Node.js.  

Where you’ll work

You have to be located in Poland to be considered for this position. You’ll have the flexibility to choose between remote work or working from our office in Warsaw.

What you’ll be doing

• Designing and developing Web software applications.

• Performing coding, debugging, testing, code review and troubleshooting throughout the application development process.

• Understanding customers, business goals, and team goals to ensure work has the greatest customer impact.

• Defining deliverables (stories) that can be completed within a finite timeframe.

• Proactively identifying new opportunities and advocating for and implementing improvements to the current state of projects.

• Making informed decisions by consulting the Product Manager and/or Product Trio and balancing details with the big picture.

• Proactively communicating and coordinating the team’s requirements with other groups and teams in engineering.

• Defining and delivering well-scoped milestones for a project.

• Actively leveling up less-experienced members of the team by helping them with their craft, providing guidance, and setting a good example.

• Acting as a valuable technical advisor who can help other Engineers work through tough technical problems.

What you’ll need

• Over 6 years of software engineering experience.

• Proficient in PHP and MySQL with initial experience in MongoDB. Previous experience with Node.js is a significant plus.

• Good working knowledge of either Laravel or Symfony frameworks.

• Extensive experience in designing, programming, and implementing large information systems.

• Ability to deeply evaluate and analyze unique, complex technological issues.

• Fluency in Polish and English.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Strong organizational and time management skills.
