Ship Essential is seeking a proactive and process-driven Inbound Manager to lead our inbound operations and ensure the seamless flow of inventory from receiving to pickable locations. Reporting to the General Manager, the Inbound Manager will oversee the receiving process, slotting, put-away of inventory, and inbound scheduling, ensuring that all inventory is processed with speed and accuracy to meet our service level agreements (SLAs). This role is crucial for maintaining a well-orchestrated inventory flow that supports efficient picking operations and overall fulfillment success.
This is an in-person role based in Downtown, Los Angeles.
Key Responsibilities:
Receiving and Put-Away Management
- Oversee the end-to-end receiving process, ensuring inbound shipments are processed accurately and efficiently upon arrival.
- Ensure timely put-away of inventory to pickable locations, organizing inventory in a way that meets SLAs and supports efficient picking.
Slotting and Inventory Organization
- Develop and implement slotting strategies that maximize picking efficiency and inventory accessibility.
- Manage put-away of overstock inventory, maintaining optimal organization to support effective space utilization.
Inbound Calendar and Scheduling
- Manage the inbound calendar and coordinate with brands to schedule deliveries, ensuring incoming inventory volume aligns with labor capacity.
- Plan and adjust labor needs based on expected inbound volume, ensuring sufficient staffing to handle peak periods while maintaining SLA compliance.
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, and develop the inbound team, instilling a focus on accuracy, efficiency, and process improvement.
- Provide ongoing training and support to improve team performance, setting high standards for speed and accuracy.
- Experience with power equipment (Order Picker) and ability to train the inbound team. Ensure all OSHA and safety procedures are followed.
Process Improvement
- Identify and implement process improvements within inbound operations to enhance efficiency, reduce errors, and streamline workflows.
- Work closely with the General Manager to align inbound processes with company goals and support scalability as the business grows.
Internal Collaboration
- Serve as the main point of contact for the fulfillment team, ensuring inventory is organized and accessible to facilitate smooth picking operations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other warehouse departments to support a seamless flow of goods through the fulfillment process.

- Experience: 3+ years in inbound or inventory management, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and team leadership.

- Leadership: Proven track record of developing high-performing teams in a fast-paced, high-volume warehouse environment.
- Communication: Strong ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.
- Tech Proficiency: Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS) and scheduling tools.
