The Assistant Director, Digital Marketing, will lead our digital marketing teen group and work closely with marketing, publicity, sales and editorial departments to develop and execute impactful social media campaigns and content strategies across our titles and social channels. The individual in this role must be creative, strategic thinking, and passionate in building awareness of the Simon Teen brand and fostering meaningful connections with our audience and our authors.
The Assistant Director will report directly to the Director of Digital Marketing
Responsibilities include:
• Lead planning, strategy, and growth of Simon Teen owned media and controlled social channels including TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest, and SimonTeen.com
• Manage one direct report and oversee a cross-functional digital team of 3 for Simon Teen projects and plans.
• Build, maintain, and assess ongoing relationships with social & digital media partners, including cultural influencers.
• Conceive, budget, and execute visual content creation for paid and organic influencer campaigns
• Oversee the development and production of creative assets where needed (images, video edits, animations, GIFs, postcards, promotional items, etc.)
• Develop and execute strategic title-specific digital marketing campaigns each season, leveraging digital market insights and consumer trends to ensure author and publisher objectives are met
• Collaborate with key stakeholders, including but not limited to, author, agent, editorial, sales, publicity, and marketing, to ensure cohesive campaign implementation and maximize promotional efforts.
• Attend kickoff calls with authors to share campaign plans and provide comprehensive marketing updates before, during, and after publication
• Manage year-round digital marketing for key backlist titles and high-profile authors, working closely with marketing, publicity, and author teams to implement
• Coordinate and oversee the production of presentations and marketing materials for seasonal sales conferences
• Utilize analytics tools to track and analyze social media performance metrics.
• Prepare and present regular reporting, insights, and marketing updates to the digital team as well asinternal and external stakeholders, including authors, agents, and sales
• Stay abreast of industry trends and propose innovative marketing approaches to reach diverse audiences.
• Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
Essential:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in digital media marketing, with at least 3-5 years publishing experience and 1-2yrs management experience
• Demonstrated expertise in managing social media channels and influencer campaigns.
• Proven ability to develop integrated marketing campaigns, including paid media and paid and organic social media strategies.
• Hands-on experience with marketing and communications technologies, including marketing automation software, social media, project management, and content management systems.
• Excellent project management and organization skills.
• Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills
• Exceptional creative and storytelling skills.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Passion for books, the book industry, as well as pop culture and social media trends

The hiring salary range for this position applies to New York City, California, Colorado, Washington state, and most other geographies. Starting pay for the successful applicant depends on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
