Position Summary
Transfr, a leader in the virtual reality educational and training industry, is currently seeking a full-time SRE who will assist in building out visibility and alerting as well as automation, internal tooling, and anything else that will boost operational toughness.

What We Offer
The base salary range for this position is expected to be between $120K and $140K, with the actual base salary amount dependent on a number of factors, including but not limited to a candidate’s credentials, relevant experience, and primary job location. In addition to salary this role will be eligible for additional company benefits such as stock options, 401(k), paid vacation and sick time, and medical/dental/vision insurance.

Site Reliability Engineer

Responsibilities
- Building out and owning system and app observability
- Establishing good development and deployment practices
- Building out a playbook for operations enablement as well as escalation procedures
- Building out and improving various workflow automations
- Implementing or authoring new development tools and infrastructure
- Ensuring that systems are safe and secure against cybersecurity threats
- Maintaining documentation for our team’s custom tools and workflow automations
- Participate in general technical operations on-call rotations
- Perform root cause analysis for relevant production errors
Qualifications
- Experience as an site reliability, infrastructure, cloud, platform, internal tools, or similar
- Strong interest and desire to build out site reliability practices at a rapidly growing company
- High level of skill in the realm of system and app observability such as: Metric and log collection and aggregation; Infrastructure instrumentation; APM; Dashboard authoring; Alerting
- High level of skill in workflow automation such as: Deployments; Config changes; Various types of tests; Other integrations such as style, static code analysis, vulnerability analysis, etc
- Moderate-to-high level of skill in general programing and scripting such as: Linux/Unix shell scripting; Internal tools development; Backend services; Integration systems
- Moderate comfort with cloud APIs and related auth
- Moderate comfort with cloud networking and basic networking concepts such as DNS, IPv4, basic routing, what proxy and web servers do, etc
- Moderate comfort in a Linux environment (we use Amazon linux, Ubuntu, and Firecracker)
Our technical operations practice is committed to a balance of correctness and pragmatism. We consider other teams our customers. For our customers, we strive to produce high-quality platforms, tools, documentation, and playbooks to aid them in their missions.
The following is a list of technologies we currently utilize. Extra credit if you have experience with:
>> Workflow automation: GitHub Actions or similar
>> Tools languages: Python, Bash (investigating others as well)
>> Infrastructure as code: Terraform
>> Container orchestration: AWS ECS
>> Cloud API and networking: AWS-based (VPC, ALBs, CloudFront, API Gateway, IAM)
>> Logging services: CloudWatch Logs and Datadog
>> Experience with datasource management: MySQL, Postgres, S3, streams, queues
Kanban or scrum experience is a plus
