Environmental Coordinator

The Environmental Coordinator is an entry level environmental position with 1 to 3 years of experience. The individual starting in this role is typically someone coming out of the trades or a college graduate. The Environmental Coordinator will be part of the Environmental Health and Safety team and will report to the Environmental Manager or Environmental Director. Provide environmental... compliance support and sustainability tracking including technical assistance to project teams. The Environmental Coordinator shall be an excellent role model for Skanska and subcontractor personnel. Support project teams in identifying and providing solutions for construction environmental compliance and environmental hazards. The role will include managing subcontractors, consultants and managing costs and cost forecasting associated with environmental compliance scope of work. The Environmental Coordinator must be a flexible and adaptable collaborator, have the ability to lead environmental meetings, have strong communication, training, and client service skills. What You'll Do: • Engage in the deployment and execution of the Environmental Management System with project operations. • Assist in or conduct project orientations and training. • Conduct environmental compliance inspections. • Assist in environmental incident investigations and monthly reporting. • Supporting role in implementation of emergency plan maintenance and support, maintenance of subcontractor Toolbox Talks, and attendance and support of project meetings. • Assist project teams in determining and/or maintaining compliance with all Environmental and Sustainability standards. • Facilitate environmental task force meetings and participate in regular meetings, as necessary. • Function as the liaison between clients, consultants, resource agencies and Skanska. • The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. We are Looking For: • Bachelor’s Degree - Construction Management, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Environmental Studies or closely related field and a minimum of 1 year of relevant heavy civil infrastructure experience. • Preferred Certifications: Certified Erosion and Sediment Control Lead (CESCL) and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) • Ability to manage SWPPP and Environmental Consultants and Service Providers • Experience: Understanding Washington Department of Transportation Plans and Specifications, Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC), Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP), Washington State Department of Ecology, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife. • Experience: Provide environmental training and orientations to project teams. • General understanding of environmental issues related to biological resources, cultural resources, hazards, land use, noise, and vibration. • Experience with hazardous materials and storage and working around environmentally sensitive areas. • Ability to understand and interpret construction documents and permit requirements (plans, specifications, schedules, and regulatory permits, and the like). • Demonstrated planning, organizational, and critical thinking skills.
