3D Art Director / Product Imaging Specialist (Contract)

The Skydio team combines deep expertise in artificial intelligence, best-in-class hardware and software product development, and operational excellence to empower a broader, more diverse audience of drone users - from first responders to insurance claims adjusters, utilities, and more!About the role:In this highly collaborative role, you will create both photorealistic and illustrative renderings, animations, and product illustrations for a wide variety of cross functional partners at Skydio. While working for Product Design, you will work closely with Product Designers, Marketing Designers, Customer Success, Packaging, Real-Time, and Hardware to create many different types of 3D renderings, photographs, animations and illustrations of our products in use.Employment Type: This will be a full-time, 3-month contract.Work authorization: We welcome every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in United states to apply. However, at this time, Skydio does not currently offer employment-based work permits or visa sponsorship for this role.Location: U.S. remote or hybrid/onsite at our HQ in San Mateo, CATypes of deliverables you will create:• Photorealistic 3D Renderings of our products• 3D Illustrations of our products for use in product manuals• In-situ product photography• Photogrammetry of soft goods like MOLLE cases• Conceptual renderings and artwork of current and future products and user interfaces• Product animations showing assembly or operation of our drone products• Illustrative animations for use on our website and decks• Low-poly models of our product lines for use in our simulator and other projectsWhat makes you a good fit:• You have a track record of delivering stunning, absolutely photorealistic product renderings for consumer or hard surface products• Precise command of lighting techniques and materials to help bring our products high quality fit and finish to life through rendering or photography• Ability to lead a project from concept to execution while taking direction from design leadership• A simple, clean design aesthetic, excellent composition, lighting and rendering skills• A strong 3D generalist who has experience ideating, conceptualizing, and executing design work across multiple areas including apps, web, identity/brand, print, ads, events, manuals, video• Experience art directing photography, video and illustration• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing, yet large, startup environment• Real-time experience in Unity, Unreal, a major plusTools:• Cinema4D, Blender, After Effects, Adobe Suite, Figma, Keyshot• Studio and in-situ photography and lighting experience• Excellent compositing skills in After Effects or Photoshop• Figma (UI renderings)#LI-TN1#LI-remoteAt Skydio we believe that diversity drives innovation.
