The Head of Communications will lead our communications strategy and manage our public image. This role is critical to shaping the narrative around Sleeper as an innovative underdog in a competitive market. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in guiding startups like Airbnb or Uber through significant growth, industry challenges, and regulatory issues.
SF/NY is semi-remote, other locations is more fully remote
Develop and implement a comprehensive communications strategy aimed at promoting Sleeper’s brand, vision, and products.
Handle crisis communication and manage public relations issues, particularly related to industry fights and regulatory challenges.
Build and maintain relationships with key journalists, influencers, and other stakeholders in relevant industries.
Lead efforts in lobbying and community relations to manage political and regulatory impacts.
Create compelling narratives and key messaging that position Sleeper as a disruptive force for good.
Oversee internal communications to ensure consistent messaging and employee engagement.
Collaborate with the executive team to shape long-term strategy and decision-making.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
7+ years of experience in communications or public relations, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
Proven track record in managing communications for startups dealing with industry and regulatory challenges.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Exceptional media relations skills and a strong network in the industry.
Master’s degree in a related field.
Experience working in the sports or gaming industry.
Crisis management experience.
