Job Description

Individuals in this position are responsible for educating HCPs on appropriate disease states within the hematology and oncology fields.   Efforts will lead to greater awareness of specific disease states among relevant HCPs. 

Including, but not limited to the following:

  • Be a disease state expert and educator through successful clinical training for appropriate Sobi disease states
  • Become subject matter expert in Sobi-approved disease state education materials
  • Contribute to the achievement of franchise and corporate objectives by providing appropriate disease state education to HCPs including awareness of applicable patient identification criteria for HCPs to conduct independent of evaluations of treatment options
  • Educate HCPs and their staff, as necessary, on the importance of utilizing Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems to appropriately identify patients in relevant disease state
  • Establish business relationships with opinion leaders and other members of the Hem/Onc healthcare community.
  • Compliantly partner with cross-functional team members to develop and execute franchise strategies and tactics to support achievement of aligned business objectives.
  • Collaborate with marketing to develop and advise on disease state education tools and resources to be used with the Hem/Onc community.
  • Gather, synthesize, and share relevant and pertinent disease state insights with applicable cross-functional team members
  • Collaborate with Area Hematology Education Director on development and execution of account plans for key accounts and customers.
  • Attend relevant congresses and conferences, both nationally and regionally, subject to internal approvals as needed.
  • Plan and participate in appropriate non-promotional, disease state only programs, subject to internal approvals as needed.
  • Conduct all activity with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with all laws, regulations, and company policies

Specific Duties

  • Delivering Results: The Hematology Education Manager will be responsible for delivering against assigned objectives and for navigating hematology disease education in assigned accounts. 
  • Identifying and engaging with thought leaders:  Build relationships with key thought leaders to ensure regional understanding of targeted Sobi disease states with assigned accounts
  • Developing and executing strategic plans.This role is responsible for targeting, prioritizing and clinically educating disease state to a variety of customers based on approved target lists.
  • Developing and effectively executing account plans. Based on national and regional strategy, this role will be expected to develop and execute strategic plans that may be account specific or part of the overall regional/national strategy. Effective planning will include: (1) determining priority level for each account; (2) defining account objectives and developing action plans; (3) identifying/targeting and engaging key individuals; (4) effectively executing strategic plans and appropriately meeting specific customer needs; and (5) compliantly involving/communicating with relevant cross-functional colleagues to accomplish objectives consistent with applicable policies
  • Developing and maintaining customer relationships. This includes identifying and utilizing internal resources to meet customer needs and developing key customers as disease state subject matter experts, including development of national and regional thought leaders.
  • Maintaining effective, on-going communication. Individuals in this position are expected to initiate and maintain an effective, compliant two-way communication with all applicable internal teams as appropriate per company policies and requirements. Serve as a regional leader and participate in cross-functional meetings as appropriate per company policies and requirements. Effective and timely use of all available communication channels and tools (voice mail, e-mail, and telephone) is expected.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and compliance with all Company policies and applicable laws and regulations.  This role will engage only in disease state education with external stakeholders subject to documented exceptions from SRC and/or the Legal, Ethics & Compliance Department.   

Qualifications

  • BA/BS Degree or higher in relevant field
  • Minimum of 8 years of work experience in one or more of the following: field sales, product marketing, or medical / clinical experience in the same or related therapeutic area within the pharmaceutical / biotech industry
  • Specialty marketplace experience is required, with a strong understanding of the MF business landscape being preferred
  • Demonstrate fluency in articulating complex scientific concepts and data
  • Strong scientific acumen and leadership skills
  • Ability to communicate business and science clearly and effectively with a variety of styles, professional and educational levels
  • Excellent communication (verbal and writing) skills with proven ability to present to large and small audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to listen actively and synthesize information in a meaningful way
  • Good judgment, ability to adapt and change in a shifting environment
  • Strategic, passionate, self-starter who takes initiative
  • Driving is an essential duty of the job; candidates must have a valid driver’s license to be considered
  • Strong understanding of the laws, regulations, and rules governing the pharmaceutical industry, and demonstrated ability to comply with such laws, regulations and rules of the pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to travel 40-50% willingness to travel to work meetings as needed to support business objectives

Responsibilities may require a work schedule that includes working outside of “normal” work hours, to meet business

Additional Information

  • This is a non-sales position and will be compensated by MBOs and not the field incentive compensation plan.

The base salary pay range for this role is $134,000-$180,000 annually.  Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings
