Job Description

The Head of Insights and Analytics will lead the function responsible for driving strategic decisions for in-line and pipeline assets. As a key member of the department leadership team, this position champions insights-driven strategy, objective, evidence-based decision making, transparency, and continuous innovation. This role is expected to successfully coach the team to employ best practices, challenge the status quo, and streamline processes to improve quality and drive efficiencies. Additionally, the position will foster an environment of cooperation with key cross functional stakeholders both in the US and on our Global team.

Scope of the Job:

  • Provides leadership and strategic direction for all key capability areas including performance analytics, promotional response, market access analytics, market research, forecasting and competitive intelligence
  • Develops people from both a functional skills and leadership perspective with goal of increasing the talent level
  • Proactively communicates with multi-functional teams to anticipate future needs and provide teams with strategic recommendations and insights; and identifies information and data needs
  • Partners with business leaders to understand and influence strategic imperatives related to research and analytics, acts as a thought partner and encourage evidence-based decision making, challenging leadership when necessary
  • Rigorously assess each commercial capability to determine whether to build from within or outsource and obtain organizational buy-in to recommendations.
  • Primary point of contact for senior Commercial leaders to engage with research and analytics; serves as advisor to leadership
  • Prioritizes research and analytics activities, aligns team members, and allocates resources to reflect business imperatives; balance needs across in-line and pipeline assets while driving productivity and efficiency
  • Instills and reflects a strong commitment to quality and standards – both in the underlying analytical frameworks and presentations. Ensures final products are well vetted and reliable.
  • Thought leader ensuring broad adoption of best practices and incorporating new methods and tools as appropriate
  • Serves as an expert in the therapy area marketplaces, and leads strategic special projects that help shape and drive the direction of the organization

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 15+ years of overall experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industries or equivalent; 10+ years in progressively responsible related roles of increasing responsibility in Insights as a Director or greater level
  • Recent experience in startup/emerging life science organizations
  • Experience in the oncology and/or hematology specialties and/or a focus on rare/ orphan diseases
  • Deep functional expertise in Market Research, Business Insights and Analytics, Quantitative data analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to lead effectively and drive results in a matrixed management operating environment
  • Knowledge of analytics approaches in biopharma including descriptive and predictive analytics as well as primary research approaches in competitive intelligence, quantitative and qualitative market research, and forecasting techniques
  • Experience with Veeva CRM, Tableau, and other commercial pharma technologies
  • Excellent strategy, planning and execution skills with proven ability to drive results
  • Highly developed commercial and business acumen; an ability to recognize growth and profitability opportunities and capitalize on them
  • Ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions and formulate clear strategy and policies
  • Analytical reasoning abilities, intellectual curiosity, strong business acumen, and creativity in problem solving
  • Ability to interact effectively with, and present verbally and in writing to, all levels of the organization
  • Experience working in a highly matrixed environment and standing out as a successful collaborator
  • Experience influencing cross-functional and leadership teams

  • Demonstrated experience in outsourcing key commercial operations functions and effectively managing partner relationships
  • High analytical capability with history of leveraging data and analytical techniques to optimize business decisions
  • Record of attracting and developing strong talent both internally and externally. Proven ability to grow and develop others
  • Ability to travel to US Offices in Waltham MA and Durham NC as needed (preferred)

 

The base salary pay range for this role is $200,000-$280,000 annually. Actual pay for this position will take into account factors such as experience and location. In addition to a base salary, this position is also eligible for a competitive 401k match, short and long-term incentives, medical, dental, vision, STD/LTD and life insurance benefits, in addition to other health and wellness programs and offerings.
