Position Summary
This is a hybrid position located in Irvine, California, with-call support.
Thales is currently looking for a DevOps Engineer to join our DevOps & Automation team to help develop and deploy our next generation In-Flight Entertainment and Connectivity (IFEC) product suite. This position requires an individual to be creative, team-oriented, and technologically savvy. The candidate must be proficient in software development as well as operations.
This position requires the candidate to be Contribute for the DevOps Lifecycle including implementation, deployment, training, and support. The candidate will need to be able to work autonomously with minimal oversight as well as support interactions with other departments by interacting independently with product owners and stakeholders to solidify understanding of requirements and deliver products on-time. To be successful, the candidate will need to have solid experience within the AGILE/SCRUM software development methodology, object-oriented programming concepts, and full software development life cycles. The candidate should have sufficient technical skills to support design and architectural proposals and be able to work collaboratively with his/her team. This individual needs to be accountable for his/her commitment (both technically and behaviorally), be able to cooperate effectively, and be adaptive in working with different stakeholders.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Design and develop ground and cloud software applications, providing support in all aspects of the development lifecycle.
Development of unit tests and additional automated testing tools and scripts.
Develop Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines for our platform and applications.
Improve the CI/CD pipelines to ensure faster time to market and delivery and customer satisfaction through code and automation.
Work as an integrated member of the software team to ensure collaboration and alignment with governance and platform standards.
Lead and mentor developers to utilize best practices for integrating with the platform deployment pipeline.
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure good communication and quality solutions that meet the company’s technical needs.
Learn and apply new technologies quickly in order to deliver competitive and high-quality solutions for Thales IFEC.
Apply best practices and standard operating procedures for the platform solutions.
Operationally support environment and security issues with development and production.
Create the documentation for the platform solutions for production and operation teams.
Implement and maintain monitoring solutions for infrastructure and applications in the CI/CD Pipeline.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related study.
Experience with Azure, AWS, Docker, CI tools, and configuration management tools.
Experience working with virtualization and clustered orchestration (Kubernetes).
Experience in Java, Spring Boot, JavaScript, Typescript, Angular.
Knowledge of Scripting language, shell, Python.
Good communicator to both internal and external customers.
Ability to motivate and deliver results.
Is flexible and adaptable to different environments.
Is able to use situational leadership skills to work collaboratively and influence key stakeholders.
Takes decisions in uncertain and ambiguous contexts.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Inflight Entertainment or connectivity solutions
Special Position Requirements
Schedule: Present for core business hours but hour may increase or vary based on fluctuating workloads. Required to be on-call.
Travel: Willing to travel on occasion both domestically as well as internationally (up to 20%).
The anticipated TTC range f or this role is $80,000-$84,000 annual USD . The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s status protected by local, state, or federal law.
