#Linode-Compute

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

  • Working on the virtualization stack (QEMU, QAPI, QMP) and VM optimization.
  • Participating in all compute product and component design reviews to suggest improvements.
  • Researching, proposing, and integrating relevant open-source projects based on product objectives.
  • Working on system, network, and cluster performance analysis, including root cause analysis of performance issues using creative experiments and internally developed product features.
  • Working on the software running on the hosts in our data centers.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Understand the Linux operating system, the kernel and virtualization.
  • Demonstrate your experience with QEMU, Scheduling, Live migrations, memory organization, API, debugging, async IO.
  • Write organized, efficient, and well documented C/C++ code.
  • Possess a good understanding of storage, networking protocols, and software algorithms in distributed systems, data encoding and transmission, and performance.
  • Have the ability to discuss abstract software architectures from ideas through implementation and creatively apply domain experience to solve technical problems.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from $93,656 - $140,803/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Akamai provides industry-leading benefits including healthcare, 401K savings plan, company holidays, vacation (in the form of PTO), sick time, family friendly benefits including parental leave and an employee assistance program including a focus on mental and financial wellness; Eligibility requirements apply.
