Software Engineer III

Overview:
In this role as an Automated Test and Monitoring Engineer III: You will serve as a technical leader and plan, communicate, design, develop, maintain, and execute an automated configuration, release, test, and monitoring roadmap across production/non-production environments. Your work will incorporate end-to-end process monitoring and testing across application stacks as well as deep localized monitoring and testing to ensure fault tolerance and resiliency. You will work across technical teams and application stacks to ensure roadmap alignment and then work within specific teams to make sure the roadmap is translated into planned work (Epics, Stories, etc.) and then tracked and driven to completion. You may also engage in hands-on activities to assist with building, testing, and demonstration of selected tools, frameworks and processes. You will present vision, roadmaps, plans, and tracking status of efforts to Senior Managers and Executives while also engaging teams at a technical level.
Responsibilities:
  • Actively participate on and across Agile teams to drive throughput and deliver best-in-class automated monitoring, testing, and release processes across application stacks to ensure end-to-end coordination and quality as well as local fault tolerance and resiliency.
  • Serve as a technical leader while also making significant technical contributions, providing technical direction, and evaluating new technologies for adoption
  • Lead the creation and adoption of a monitoring, test and release automation monitoring roadmap
  • Create, automate, execute, maintain, and improve automated release trains for information technology solutions centered around Oracle EBS, Oracle CX Cloud, and Oracle Integration Cloud
  • Work with leaders and teams from various Paychex organizations to understand and align release and test environments, tools, standards and practices to enable and drive continuously improved methods of end-to-end integrated and performance testing
  • Design, implement, maintain and support well engineered processes that fuel commercial application experts with automated release, version control, and testing processes that are approachable by techno-functional commercial application experts. Design, implement and support commercial, open source, and custom automation tools.
  • Ensure team compliance with CI/CD and release standards, and pursue, evaluate, and recommend efficient and scalable tools and methods that are built for throughput and optimized for the Oracle applications and surrounding technologies.
  • Write and execute automated test suites for cases that cannot be handled via low code/no-code test authoring and execution: Web, API, UI, database, functional, Regression, smoke, black box, performance/load and end-to-end testing
  • Use available tools supported by well-engineered, automated methods to automate version control and deployment of configuration changes to production and across non-production environments in a well-controlled but efficient manner
  • Act as a Monitoring and test Automation SME as needed to solve technical roadblocks and coordinate integration of automated tests.
  • Mentor other team members in the areas of Monitoring, Release Automation, Test Automation and use of designed tools and processes
  • Implement visualizations that raise confidence in release status, configuration synchronization, test execution, etc.
  • Design and implement targeted, scalable test data generation services
  • Prepare and present executive level roadmaps, plans, and status updates
  • Work with infrastructure, network engineering, and corporate applications support as needed to support the implementation and maintenance of tools, secure connection points, etc. and to provide test-ready environments.
  • Provide epic and story breakdowns as well as estimates as input to product recommendation and as input to roadmaps.
  • Acquire and utilize in-depth business, software application and technical knowledge to maximize effectiveness and quality when completing or assisting in the completion of automated release and testing tasks.
  • Research and resolve issues related to automated release and testing tasks in appropriate time frame in order to assure test planning schedules are met
  • Monitor team progress against project estimates and provide status and guidance
  • Ensure compliance with security and data obfuscation requirements
  • Engage Vendors, the IT Operation Center, Performance Engineering, System Health Operations, and other support teams as necessary to pursue and continuously improve testing, monitoring, and response patterns across applications and processes

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer related discipline or equivalent work experience
  • 5 years of experience in Information technology or Paychex specific product knowledge.
Compensation: In the spirit of pay transparency, we are excited to share that the starting base pay range for this position is $87,900 - $138,100 annually/hourly. Please keep in mind that this range is the base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. If you are hired at Paychex, your overall compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and/or experience which may result in total compensation outside of this range.
