Ciena Government Solutions Team (CGSI) is looking for an experienced Software Engineer. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications within the cloud environment.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain applications within the cloud environment.
• Perform work on a fully scalable, completely automated cloud platform.
• Utilize Ruby on Rails, Linux, MySQL, Elasticsearch, Vue, and Twitter Bootstrap.
• Provide development engineering to optimize operational efficiency.
• Develop and maintain an awareness of ongoing enterprise IT projects, relevant dependencies and requirements.
• Automate infrastructure build and certification renewal processes.
• Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
• Review existing code and assist in making refinements, reducing operating time, and improve current techniques.
• Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience working independently in an Agile environment.
• Demonstrated experience with Ruby on Rails software development including automated testing.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with customers to refine requirements and provide user solutions.
• Demonstrated experience developing with Linux using standard tool compilation and build processes.
• Demonstrated experience with AWS technologies, particularly CloudFormation and CloudWatch.
• Demonstrated experience configuring Elasticsearch and Kibana.
• Demonstrated experience using Angular 12.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience with the Capistrano deployment tool.
• Demonstrated experience autoscaling EC2 production instances based on variable user traffic.
• Demonstrated experience integrating accessibility standards into modern web methods.
• Demonstrated experience developing using JavaScript, particularly Vue and jQuery.
• Demonstrated experience with front-end design toolkits such as Twitter Bootstrap.
• Demonstrated experience with version control, including Git.

Place of Performance:

The place of performance is within the Washington Metropolitan Area (WMA).

Travel:

Local travel (POV) on an as-needed basis within the WMA.
