Overall responsibility is to participate and provide high quality technical support and development activities to the software development team in all stages of software development life cycle. Learn implementation details of existing products, test developed software for conformance to specifications, accuracy, and reliability, and generate bug reports and provide bug fixes in timely manner. Learn Nikon software architecture and functional interfaces to develop, integrate and enhance code modules. Work closely with Sr. General Manager, Project Manager and department members in all software product development and maintenance related activities to meet software functional and delivery goals. Contribute in a productive and efficient manner to the development of team environment.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
· Learn Nikon software internals.
· Test developed modules following software design and test specifications.
· Document, fix and maintain bugs in bug tracking system.
· Participate in code development activities to maintain and enhance existing support systems such as department websites.
· Participate in development activities to maintain and add enhancements to existing software product modules and codebases.
· Work with team members to prepare software design and help documentation. Review documentation with department Managers.
· Actively maintain GitLab repositories, branches, and ReadMe files of all development projects.
· Prepare software installation package with codebase from GitLab and test installation for error free deliverables.
· Create project entries in team collaboration and work management software with task breakdown and time estimates to track project progress.
· Work with sales representatives, vendors, and customers to ensure correct installation of the software and to provide technical support as well as troubleshooting.
Ancillary responsibilities:
· Configure PC software and hardware for testing including setting up and maintaining internal network.
· Develop software in Integrated Development Environment.
· Maintain up to date project development statuses in work management software.
· Work with team members to follow and add improvements to the group’s Agile workflow activities.
· Study training materials available through Nikon resources to enhance microscopy and application related knowledge required for development projects.
· Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities.
All other duties as required or needed.
