Job Description

Working under general direction, supports the Indirect Sourcing group in procurement of Indirect Goods & Services including logistics, facilities, information technology, marketing, travel, and other indirect goods and services purchased from external suppliers. Demonstrates the ability to negotiate and/or implements initiatives that reduce Company costs and/or prevents annual cost increases.


Responsibilities

  • Plans, researches, and negotiates in the most cost-effective manner while maintaining quality and meeting business partner requirements. Demonstrates the ability to negotiate and/or implements initiatives that reduce Company costs and/or prevents annual cost increases. Makes decisions consistent with the overall policies and objectives of the Indirect Sourcing Group and Finance Division. Utilizes sound logic and business analysis in decision-making.
  • Category Management – Develops and maintain the processes and infrastructure necessary to support best-in-class procurement including; effectively managing assigned categories. Partners and work closely with stakeholders to define sourcing strategies and annual savings goals. Remains knowledgeable in trends within assigned categories in order to successfully identify savings or process improvement opportunities.
  • Negotiation – Partners with stakeholder in order to successfully negotiate agreements that clearly define the business relationship while still managing the company’s risk.
  • Contracts – Reviews supplier agreements, ensuring the company’s interests are protected. Works closely with Legal to ensure all sections of contract comply with company policy. Ensures Delegation of Authority is met with contract signing.
  • Technology – Maximizes effectiveness by utilizing technology appropriately and wherever possible to achieve team goals. Utilizes e-sourcing tools per the team instructions, ensuring all policies and procedures and maintained. Utilizes e-procurement tools for cutting purchase orders per company policy.
  • Stakeholder Management – Effectively secures buy-in at from stake holders for the Indirect Procurement categories, working in collaboration to lead the development of strategic plans, tactics, and project pipelines in order to minimize cost and maximize value in the procurement process. Provides insight and guidance to stakeholders regarding value of adopting and complying with purchasing policies, procedures, tools, and processes.
  • Supplier Management - In collaboration with stakeholders, develops a working knowledge of available suppliers and their capabilities. Provides ongoing contractual support to stakeholders regarding supplier contracts. Participates in quarterly business reviews and assists with supplier or contract issues as needed.

Skills & Experience

Experience: 3+ years in progressively responsible experience in purchasing as well as exposure to related areas

Education: Bachelor/University Degree in Business, Procurement, Logistics or a related field

  • Must have effective negotiation skills in order to influence decisions that impact Company bottom-line.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interface with internal and external contacts and have the ability to monitor delicate situations tactfully.
  • Must have the ability to understand business needs and strategically plan the most cost-effective solution to goals and objectives, while balancing the needs of the independent sales force.
  • Must have effective decision-making skills since decisions impact the financial, employee, or public relations posture of the organization. Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in failure to achieve goals critical to the major objectives of the organization.
  • Must have effective organizational, project management, and time management skills to work effectively with internal and external contacts.
  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills in order to address purchasing requests, inquiries, and problems, interface effectively with suppliers, and to act as a liaison between suppliers and stakeholders.
