The Associate Network Planning and Operations Control (NPOC) Analyst delivers on our Purpose by accessing and combining relevant data sources to perform complex, highly visible, flight schedule analysis. In this role you will develop a basic understanding of airline scheduling techniques, optimization, profitability, and airline operational constraints, and will present your thought and flight schedule analysis, telling a compelling story that explains the analysis and supports the recommendation. Responsibilities• Learn in a classroom and Team environment with hands-on application to understand and develop advanced skills required to perform meaningful analysis• Learn and master multiple data sources, tools, and resources and develop the ability to recognize which is best source of information to use when answering questions and completing analysis across multiple scenarios• Learn commercial and operational principles of commercial aviation, with a focus on Southwest, the industry and the competitive landscape• Learn the key inputs and constraints required to build our core product, the Flight Schedule• Learn to review, compare, measure, and analyze the impact of Flight Schedule changes including understanding down line effect, KPI’s and performance metrics• Develop the capability to report and analyze key performance indicators used to evaluate operational and commercial performance across Southwest and the industry• Develop the ability to explore data and organize it into effective visualizations that communicate business insights and realistic solutions• Grow business acumen across topics, Teams, and Departments, developing “Big Picture” thinking by learning how it all fits together and by demonstrating the ability to connect the different concepts through insightful analysis and recommendations• Develop the ability to identify and action opportunities to innovate, improve business processes, and implement efficiencies• Apply knowledge and skills to display mastery of milestone tasks, data and application of concepts• Responsible for staying on pace with the class, passing assessments to display consistent growth, meeting all deadlines, and embodying the Southwest Values• Must be able to meet any physical ability requirements listed on this description• May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's LeadersKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities• Knowledge of the fundamental principles and practical applications of business, finance, and economics• Skilled in Microsoft Office• Ability to learn in a classroom setting as well as though project assignments• Ability to demonstrate competency in reading and comprehending technical information, listening, writing, and public speaking• Ability to communicate effectively across a variety of departments spanning multiple levels, including those in leadership positions• Ability to demonstrate competency in collecting, manipulating and organizing large datasets, and transforming data into clear visualizations with actionable insights• Ability to listen, take initiative, solve problems, and demonstrate a strong work ethic• Ability to develop deep knowledge of various analytical and technical tools, including Excel, SQL, Alteryx, and Tableau• Ability to provide full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made and ask questions as appropriate• Ability to quickly process and understand complex information and use this information to identify potential solutions• Ability to work independently in a Team environmentEducation• Required: High School Diploma or GEDExperience• Entry level experience, developing skills and knowledge in:Microsoft Office suite• Microsoft Excel• Preferred: Knowledge of tools/techniques such as SQL, Tableau, Alteryx, Visual Basic or other programming languages or data visualization tools• Preferred: Experience in aviation, analysis, or operations researchLicensing/Certification• N/APhysical Abilities• Ability to perform work duties from [limited space work station/desk/office area] for extended periods of time• Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job• Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the jobOther Qualifications• Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines• Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986• Must be at least 18 years of age• Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines• Must be able to work extended hours based on operational needs• Ability to meet confidentiality expectations regarding confidential, proprietary, and sensitive Company informationPay & Benefits• Competitive market salary from $60,050 per year to $$66,700 per year* depending on qualifications and experience.
