Principal Mechanical Engineer, Consumer Hardware (Starlink)

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer for the Consumer Hardware (Starlink) team. The ideal candidate will lead the design of high-volume consumer products for the innovative Starlink broadband internet system.

Skills

Proficiency in CAD and FEA software packages
Experience in mechanical/electromechanical design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing
Strong ability to design for high volume manufacturability and assembly
Solid understanding of GD&T, mechanical engineering fundamentals, and failure modes analysis

Responsibilities

Design and develop Starlink consumer hardware from conceptualization to production ramp
Drive technology and material developments for product performance and user experience optimization
Perform reliability testing to ensure high in-field performance in various environments
Design state-of-the-art production lines for manufacturing consumer hardware
Establish an efficient product lifecycle balancing cost, complexity, and quality

Education

Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
Master's degree in engineering or related technical discipline preferred
