SpaceX is hiring a Sr. Software Engineer to join our Security Engineering team which owns the custom security software, tools, and systems that protect against threats to our rockets (Falcon and Starship) and the network and technology utilized by our astronauts and employees. As a target of nation-states and malicious actors, it is paramount that we defend against loss of control or confidence in our systems to guarantee the highest probability of mission success.
You should expect to spend 80 of your time programming, automating, and writing novel security solutions to defend against the constantly changing threat landscape. We are looking for people with a track record of shipping reliable software and who have a broad understanding of security design and best practices.
In-depth security experience is not required to be successful in this role - we look for smart, motivated, collaborative software engineers who are excited about solving challenging security problems. If you are excited about building quality products, love the challenges of outsmarting adversaries, and want to make an impact on an inter-planetary scale, then you will fit right in.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Design, build, and maintain software that provides security for SpaceX systems, networks, and data
• Work with security, IT, and product teams to identify threats and problem areas and use that feedback to further strengthen our tools and technologies
• Build security-conscious software and processes to support teams across SpaceX, measured in decreased risk and reduction of security issues
• Collaborate with other multi-disciplinary engineering teams building our rockets and satellites to identify security problems and create efficient solutions
• Create solutions that are scalable, repeatable, maintainable, and secure
• Work collaboratively with others, including individuals in Information Security, Physical Security, Information Technology, Human Resources, Legal, and our various software teams
• Be vocal about security improvements during collaborations on architecture, design, and code reviews
