UX Designer & HCD Integrator

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Employ a human-centered perspective to explore a diverse range of behaviors, attitudes, and mindsets to develop a deep understanding of emerging needs that will instigate the creation of novel solutions (products, services, and business models)
• Execute research on latest UI and HCD trends.
• Utilize metrics from various resources to understand quantitative needs for the project.
• Design, plan, and conduct face-to-face engagements using human-centered principles to find qualitative understandings about the needs of the users.
• Design surveys (via email or survey tools) around different product needs, conduct internal exercises to establish standards and metrics. Execute surveys with external project partners and finalize recommendations from results.
• Analyze findings the discovery of latent needs, including development of best practices.
• Craft detailed stories in the project tool JIRA.
• Collaborate with our clients, colleagues, and outside partners to come up with improvement ideas for the product.
• Employ a flexible mindset.
• Work on multiple parallel projects, in various roles, in a non-hierarchical fast-paced environment. Be willing to try, fail and adapt in an agile cycle.
• Conducting user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to understand the needs and behaviors of the target audience.
• Create user personas, user journeys, content inventories, and wireframes to propose and communicate design decisions with stakeholders and the integrated project team.
• Synthesizing research findings to identify key insights and design opportunities.
• Seek input from multiple constituents and stakeholders to drive innovative solutions.
• Develop prototypes in Axure and conduct user testing to validate and iterate on design concepts.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, and product managers to ensure that the final product meets the needs of the end user.
• Communicate design concepts and research findings to team members and stakeholders through presentations, reports, and other mediums.
• Build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.
• Focus on the needs, wants, limitations of the end user in the design process.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

• An experienced IT professional possessing an inquisitive nature and self-confidence to experiment in approaches and methods to explore and uncover users’ latent needs related to website user interface and the user experience.
• Experienced with methods of HCD, UX and design related processes.
• A portfolio to showcase a sharp eye for detail, robust design process, and visual aesthetics.
• Knowledge of web technologies, user experience, design principles, ability to apply user-centered design methodologies, GUI prototyping / wireframe tools (e.g., Wireframe.cc, Figma Adobe XD, Sketch, Axure)
• Ability to see the big picture and balance that vision with a detail-oriented, organized delivery approach.
• Seasoned researcher in the field of design research and human centered research with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Hands-on experience in an Agile software development environment – SAFe is preferred.
• Hands-on experience in servant leadership roles utilizing different methods and tools – Scrum, Kanban, SAFe, JIRA, Dynamics System Development Method (DSDM), TDD, etc.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Candidates must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years.
• Ability to work independently with a skill in producing excellent results despite technical limitations and time constraints.
• Demonstrated experience applying Design Thinking methodologies to translate stakeholder-needs and requirements into creative, yet tangible digital experiences.
• Experience leading teams and/or partners to execute design and prototyping of early-stage ideas.
• Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
• Candidates must have lived in the United States 3 out of the past 5 years.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

• HCD/UX certification desired

EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

    • 2+ years of experience in a human-centered UI/UX Design role.
    • Bachelor’s Degree in any IT related field, such as User Interface Design, User Experience Design, Interaction Design, or Industrial Design (preferred)
