JOB SUMMARY & PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS


REPORTS TO: Department Executive Director


DEPARTMENT NAME: Family and Community Partnerships


JOB SUMMARY (2-3 sentences): Serves one cluster school grouping by providing direct assistance to families and school staff that enhance or improve engagement strategies that impact the student’s learning experience. Serves on special projects and committees to provide input on barriers to success in family engagement. This is a 10-month position.


PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS: List, in the order of time spent, the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required:

Job Responsibility 1:


Develops and provides high quality training sessions and workshops to families based on needs assessments and goals of the school and the Support Services department.



Job Responsibility 2:


Develops and provides high quality training sessions and workshops to school staff to support capacity building for effective family-school partnerships.



Job Responsibility 3:


Creates, supports and participates in parent leadership activities. Attends and assists with school events to promote family and community programs.



Job Responsibility 4:


Meets regularly with school staff and leadership to share expertise; links academic goals with family programs; coordinates events and opportunities; and establishes and maintains communications between families, community partners, schools, and other MNPS departments about events, programs, classes, and opportunities.



Job Responsibility 5:


Collaborates with cluster support teams to develop programs and partnerships that address the needs of students, families, and the community.



Job Responsibility 6:


Provides department’s leadership information and data by collecting and monitoring data and communicating concerns about barriers to success in parent and community engagement.



Job Responsibility 7:


Coordinates with MNPS departments to ensure necessary services are provided for families.



Job Responsibility 8:


Expands and enhances partnerships with community based organizations in support of school goals and needs.



GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES, REQUIREMENTS, AND IMPACTS


DATA RESPONSIBILITY: “Data Responsibility” refers to information, knowledge, and conceptions obtained by observation, investigation, interpretation, visualization, and mental creation. Data are intangible and include numbers, words, symbols, ideas, concepts, and oral verbalizations.


Copies, transcribes, enters, or posts data or information.


PEOPLE RESPONSIBILITY: “People Responsibility” refers to individuals who have contact with or are influenced by the position.


Speaks with or signals to people to convey or exchange information.


ASSETS RESPONSIBILITY: “Assets Responsibility” refers to the responsibility for achieving economies or preventing loss within the organization.


Requires some responsibility for achieving minor economies and/or preventing minor losses through the handling of or accounting for materials, supplies, or small amounts of money.


MATHEMATICAL REQUIREMENTS: “Mathematics” deals with quantities, magnitudes, and forms and their relationships and attributes by the use of numbers and symbols.


Uses addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; may compute ratios, rates, and percentages.


COMMUNICATIONS REQUIREMENTS: “Communications” involves the ability to read, write, and speak.


Reads technical instructions, charts, and/or procedures manuals; composes routine reports and completes job forms; speaks compound sentences using standard grammar.


COMPLEXITY OF WORK: “Complexity of Work” addresses the analysis, initiative, ingenuity, creativity, and concentration required by the position and the presence of any unusual pressures.


Performs semi-routine work involving set procedures and rules, but with frequent problems; requires normal attention with short periods of concentration for accurate results or occasional exposure to unusual pressure.


IMPACT OF DECISIONS: “Impact of Decisions” refers to consequences such as damage to property, loss of data or property, exposure of the organization to legal liability, or injury or death to individuals.


Makes decisions with moderate impact - affects those in work unit.


EQUIPMENT USAGE: “Equipment Usage” refers to inanimate objects such as substances, materials, machines, tools, equipment, work aids, or products. A thing is tangible and has shape, form, and other physical characteristics.


Handles office equipment involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of standard or in selecting appropriate items.


SAFETY OF OTHERS: “Safety of Others” refers to the responsibility for other people’s safety, either inherent in the job or to assure the safety of the general public.


Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS


EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: “Education Requirements” refers to job specific training and education required for entry into the position.


Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Public Administration, Social Work, or related field; or equivalent.


LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED: “Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations” refers to professional, state, or federal licenses, certifications, or registrations required to enter the position.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: “Experience Requirements” refers to the amount of work experience that is required for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the tasks required by the position.


Requires 2 years’ related experience which includes experience in leading new initiatives in the area of education, public administration, community development, or related field with proven success.


More specific degree, certification, and experience requirements will be included in the position announcement as vacancies occur.
