Position Summary:
The Specialist, Grant Research and Oversight is responsible for research and project management of Sanford Academies portfolio of grants and RFPs and oversees activities on grants and RFPs beginning with submissions, through award acceptance, appropriation, financial management, and close out. The incumbent works with other Sanford Academy team members, consultants, and faculty to achieve grant and RFPs outcomes. Ensuring compliance with National University and funder guidelines, regulations, and limitations; assists with the development of complex budgets, prospects grant/RFP opportunities, reviews proposals for administrative and regulatory restrictions, manages electronic grant submissions. Provides Just-in-Time information to funders; prepares research and/or programmatic agreements; and agreements for subcontracts as applicable.
The Specialist, Grant Research and Oversight, is organized, able to execute tenacious follow-up, and handle all the
challenges of working on multiple transaction-heavy grants and RFP’s, simultaneously utilizing effective project management skills. Extensive knowledge of grant administration and ability to adhere to agency rules and regulations applied to promote and ensure effective compliance.
Essential Functions:

Research and prospect grant and RFP opportunities for the Sanford Academies.

Utilize Salesforce to document research and prospecting efforts.

Serve as project manager for grants and RFP’s.

Collaborates and consults with post-award colleagues as needed to facilitate the grant/RFP.

Serve as primary reviewer of incoming and outgoing grants and contracts.

Work with contract/grant originators (and vendors when appropriate) to ensure business terms/grant purposes are adequately described and fulfilled.

Serve as a compliance ambassador by building and maintaining relationships with originators and reviewers across departments.

Track and present data and metrics on contracts/grants and on the review process.

Maintain and manage accurate electronic files and documentation.

Ability to research, interpret, and communicate requirements to ensure compliance.

Data collection and reporting are necessary.

Requirements:
Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree preferred or the equivalent experience.

Minimum of five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in the management of academic budgets and grants/contracts required, with at least five (5) years of experience in higher education administration or combination equivalent of education and experience.

Experience in both pre- and post-award issues and award processes is required.

Knowledge of US Government requirements and regulations (UG/NIH/NSF/DOE).

Knowledge of various financial and non-financial agreements (DUA/MOU/NDA).

Must have significant experience working with faculty, staff and both federal and non-federal funders.

Experience in programs financial management is required.

Appreciation for the nature of research and other funder prospecting activities is preferred.

Understanding of electronic workflow is recommended.

Must be able to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of university staff, faculty, and administration as well as with outside agencies and funding sources.

Candidate receiving offers will be offered a salary/pay rate commensurate with experience that vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills, and competencies. Absent exceptional circumstances, candidates will be offered a salary within this range for this position. The minimum salary will be offered based on the minimum exemption threshold based on state of residency. Compensation Range:
Annual Salary: $56,890.00 - $76,800.00
