Salary for Announcement
The minimum of the pay range for this position is $49,900. We anticipate the qualified candidate to be placed between $49,900 - $74,900 . The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.
The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Student Engagement & Wellness/Dean of Students, the Assistant to the AVP/Dean of Students & Special Projects Manager is a multi-faceted role that is responsible for managing the Dean of Students Office operations, the coordination, implementation, progress, and completion of projects to support units across Student Engagement & Wellness, and administrative assistance for the Associate Vice President/Dean of Students. The position responsibilities are broad, dynamic, and essential to the overall operations of the university and in particular to effective student support. The position calls for an individual who is interested in diverse work projects, is detail oriented and an excellent communicator, enjoys a fast-paced and student-focused environment, and who is able to work autonomously. The position also calls for a creative solution-oriented problem solver, and for a professional who exercises sound judgement.
The Dean of Students Office provides student support with an emphasis on addressing community and student safety, well-being, integrity, and respect. The office houses variety of functions that relate to student conflict, behavior, and wellbeing. This position will work collaboratively with leaders across all Student Engagement & Wellness departments. Student Engagement and Wellness is the area within the university explicitly focused on student wellness and engagement with a lens of equity and understanding of how students' social identities contribute to their University experience. Departments within Student Engagement and Wellness include: Campus Recreation, the Center for Equity and Student Achievement (CESA), the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion (CMEI) and related programs, College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP), the Counseling Center, the Dean of Students Office and the programs within, Immigrant Student Services, the LGBTQ Student Resource Center, the Health Center at Auraria, Met Media, the Student Care Center and related programs, the TRIO Student Support Services, and the Veteran and Military Student Center.

Duties/Responsibilities
Special Project Management Duties(30%)
Coordinate and manage special projects to support the goals of Student Engagement & Wellness including project mapping, communication with key stakeholders, development of relevant project collateral, and related duties. As needed, participate in and/or lead projects with division-wide or University-wide objectives .
Coordinate the committee and selection processes and manage communication for University -level awards, as well as annual departmental scholarship. Plan associated recognition event each spring.
As requested , research concepts and engage in benchmarking exercises of relevance for Student Engagement and Wellness.
Serve as a liaison and/or representative for Student Engagement and Wellness with internal and external projects. In doing so, coordinate information from across Student Engagement & Wellness and distribute relevant information to colleagues.
Serve on student affairs and University-wide committees that support major events, divisional initiatives, and related projects.
Oversee Student Engagement & Wellness and Student Care Center budgets and engage in budget forecasting and other budget requests/projects.
Lead or participate in other committees, initiatives, or department or University efforts as required .
Assistant to the AVP/Dean of Students Duties (50%)
Manage the calendar for the AVP/Dean of Students, liaising appropriately with internal and external colleagues to do so.
Schedule recurring and ad hoc meetings and/or events on behalf of the AVP/Dean of Students, including drafting and distributing agendas, verifying participant attendance, and related communication. As requested , prepare materials for meetings and events for which the AVP/Dean of Students is leading and/or attending.
Serve as liaison and first point of contact when representing the AVP/Dean of Students in communication with internal and external departments, organizations, and groups through a variety of modalities including phone, emails, meetings, and one-on-one conversations.
As requested , attend meetings with or in place of the AVP/Dean of Students and take accurate notes/minutes for distribution.
Track materials and/or approvals requested of the AVP/Dean of Students, assist with scheduling approval and related tasks for the AVP/Dean of Students, and ensure appropriate record keeping of approvals.
Assist with logistics of AVP/Dean of Students travel arrangements and off-campus meetings/events.
Assist with Student Engagement & Wellness and Student Affairs communication initiatives, including drafting communication on behalf of the AVP/Dean of Students, editing documents and materials, and managing the Student Engagement & Wellness website.
Maintain Student Engagement & Wellness organizational charts and communication listservs; distribute information and updates to Student Engagement & Wellness staff in an efficient manner.
Collaborate with peers within Student Affairs to organize division-wide events, develop and maintain processes and procedures, and otherwise optimize the flow of information and communication within the Student Affairs branch.
Supervisory Duties (20%)
Provide oversight of budget management, purchasing and fiscal transactions.
As needed, assist with office coverage and/or student employee supervision for the Dean of Students Office and the Student Care Center.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (error-free and able to clearly articulate ideas in written format)
Detail-oriented with strong organizational, planning, and multi-tasking skills
Excellent customer/student service skills

Preferred Qualifications
Professional work experience in a higher education setting
Masters degree in higher education administration, social work, counseling, business or a related field from a regionally accredited college or university
Demonstrated values related to equity and social justice
Experience designing programs and events that promote equity and justice
Experience working in a high volume, multi-faceted work environment
Experience using Banner
Experience developing and/or updating websites using a content management system
Experience coordinating purchasing and/or related fiscal functions
Experience supervising student staff
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
