Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

Responsibilities:
- Performs specimen processing of blood specimens

Performs venipuncture phlebotomy on patients, donors, research participants and employees where required

Able to learn computer skills in a timely manner

Processes specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, and dispensing specimens to proper lab processing and sendout sites

Participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance programs and projects

Records variances of standard policies and procedures in Patient Safety Net accurately and where required
-
Responsible for receiving patients at the Alliance Laboratory for blood draw appointments and scheduling walk-in appointments

May be asked to cover alternative shifts or weekends as needed per staffing

Has the ability to work under pressure and adjust to changing workloads

Qualifications:
Required:
-
High school graduation or the equivalent.

Knowledge of basic medical terminology
-
Ability to lift 25 lbs.

Proficient in the use of email, and data entry in a Windows-based environment
Preferred:

Completion of phlebotomy training course
-
Washington state MA/Phlebotomist certification (or sponsored by Fred Hutch if competency assessment and training are completed)

Preferred specimen handling and processing experience including accessioning, centrifuge, aliquoting, sendouts and blood banking

Preferred EPIC/Cadence, answering phones/handling phone inquiries from patients and staff
This position is patient facing and/or requires access to Fred Hutch clinical facilities. As such, full COVID-19 vaccination is required as a condition of employment, without exception. Booster doses are strongly recommended but not required. If declining a booster, completion of the COVID-19 Vaccination Status Form Questionnaire and COVID-19 Booster Declination Training is required. The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.53 to $29.23 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
