They are seeking a bright, determined, and committed Associate Vice President of Government Affairs to join the team to assist in driving Charter's policy priorities.BE PART OF THE CONNECTIONAs an Associate Vice President of Government Affairs, you will take the lead in driving the development, coordination, and execution of government affairs strategies to propel our company's growth and influence within the state legislature and regulatory agencies in Texas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Mississippi. This role involves representing the company before state and local governments, broadband grant management, budget management, external affairs, and community engagement. Your extensive legislative and regulatory experience, combined with a robust background in public policy and advocacy, will empower you to strategically plan, manage, and execute initiatives that align with our overarching objectives. With a senior-level management position, you will play a pivotal role in shaping our government affairs initiatives.WHAT OUR Associate Vice Presidents of Government Affairs ENJOY MOST• Developing, building, and expanding relationships with public officials and other influential policy makers at the federal, state, and local level.• Managing the collaboration of the government affairs team and outside consultants, developing and growing grassroots and third-party support for the benefit of the company and its interests.• Developing strategies and effectively planning and executing initiatives to grow the company's image within the communities managed.• Assisting in the development and management of the company's political contribution strategies, to the extent and as permitted under applicable law.• Representing the company before external constituencies, including elected officials and other state and local government agencies, commissions, and authorities, and organizing and representing the company at community events and other external functions.• Drafting, analyzing, and/or presenting legislation, amendments, testimony, memoranda, and other collateral material as necessary to perform legislative and regulatory advocacy.• Serving as a principal liaison between Charter and the corresponding State Cable and Telecommunications Associations and representing the company at industry forums.• Managing outside counsel, consultants, and lobbyists as necessary.• Managing the team's response to and company resolution of escalated complaints from government authorities as may be necessary.• Managing the identification of government-related state procurement and business opportunities and facilitating discussions with business and assisting them in developing responses.• Developing approaches to support the company's business objectives and managing outreach and interactions with government constituencies related to our business and services.• Performing other duties as requested.The State Government Affairs team is responsible for educating local and state officials about Charter's policy positions and advocating for laws, regulations and ordinances that advance the company's business priorities. As a member of the state team, you will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Charter's interests and the interests of Charter's customers are well represented in state and local policies.WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUMRequired Qualifications• Bachelor's degree or equivalent• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English• Ten years of experience in the cable or other regulated industry, government, public policy, or legislative arenas• Background in law, government, or public policy• Ability to communicate orally and in writing in a clear and straightforward manner• Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks• Ability to make decisions and solve problems while working under pressure• Ability to analyze and interpret legislation, regulation, contracts, and legal documents• Ability to use personal computer and software applications (i.e. word processing, spreadsheet, presentations, etc.).• Ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance and operate with integrity and within company values; maintain high standards for ethical practice• Ability to work independently, but also to collaborate effectively with colleagues, peers and other internal and external constituencies• Knowledge of cable, telecommunications and broadband products and services, and experience working with regulated industries• Advocacy, lobbying and negotiation skills• Understanding of state and local governmentPreferred Qualifications• Advanced degree in public administration, law or similar fieldWorking Conditions• Normal office conditions• Frequent travel required• Regular, consistent and punctual attendance• Able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessarySPECTRUM CONNECTS YOU TO MORE• Dynamic Growth: The growth of our industry and evolving technology powers our employees' careers as they move up or around the company.• Supportive Teams: Who you are matters here.
