POSITION SUMMARY:

Bayview is an investment management firm focused on investments in mortgage and consumer credit. The Consumer Lending Fintech is a newly founded business line for direct to consumer lending efforts. The Consumer Lending team aims to improve people’s lives. The team will create innovative solutions that will raise awareness of available financial options and provide products to improve the financial well-being of consumers.

The engineering team in Consumer Lending will play a key role in building the product experience to launch a series of innovative products that will be beneficial for consumers. We will first launch new products/flows for existing customers and then expand to prospects. We are looking for senior engineers who can operate with a white sheet of paper, ideate, collaborate, build, launch, and iterate on new consumer facing products. As a remote-first Consumer Lending Fintech team, this role can be remote or in an office in New York City, NY or Coral Gables, FL. The salary range for this role is $170,000 to $210,000; however, Bayview considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilites, a candidate's work experience, education/training, location and key skills.

Essential DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• 
  Work on a cross-functional team of engineers who own all of Consumer Lending’s websites, components, and cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with key Product, Design, and Engineering partners to determine how to scalably design and build financial tools to improve the lives of our visitors.
• Provide hands on technical leadership and participate in architectural decision-making.
• Share your knowledge, promote best practices, and collaborate with a diverse group of web engineers.
• Execute and deliver impactful updates on our core website(s) and web components.
• Work with Product, Design and Engineering to design, build, and maintain design systems and frontend toolkit.
• Be a valued contributor in an autonomous, cross-functional agile team.
• Conduct peer code reviews and mentor/coach junior developers.
• Adhere to Company’s Compliance Standards.
• Ensure a safe and secure work environment.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

• Deep knowledge and experience writing modern HTML, CSS, Sass, JavaScript (ES6), Typescript, and JSX.
• Thorough understanding of React.js; Hooks, context, functional components, higher order functions, etc.
• Thorough understanding of contemporary web capabilities. You should be confident using local storage, SVG, box model, grid, flexbox, animations, cookies, promises, async/await, service workers, web sockets, custom elements, Intl, PWAs, etc.
• Thorough understanding of web performance bottlenecks, how to audit web performance, and where to optimize code first.
• Responsive web development – mobile and desktop
• Advanced understanding of git; Fast-forward, squash, rebase, etc. Familiarity with trunk based and Gitflow style branching.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• You have 6+ years of working experience as a Frontend Engineer working with React.js, Node.js, & Bootstrap (or similar). Additional tools and technologies such as Lerna, Next JS, and AWS are a plus.
• You have experience working directly with Product and Design stakeholders to understand, document, and develop software solutions to meet their requirements, driving increased adoption and reducing reliance on custom one-off implementations.
• You have experience analyzing wireframes and requirements to plan and document engineering solutions including API specifications and modular architecture.
• (Nice to have) You have experience working in regulated environments with emphasis on legal compliance and quality assurance.
