PAY RANGE
The Target Pay Range for this position is $118,400-$144,700 annually. The full Pay Range is $91,700-$171,300 annually. At BECU, compensation decisions are determined using factors such as relevant job-related skills, experience, and education or training. Should an offer for employment be made, we will consider individual qualifications. In addition to your salary, compensation incentives are available for the hired applicant. Incentives are performance based and targets vary by role.

SUMMARY
The Sr Software Quality Engineer (Sr QE) is responsible for providing information to stakeholders, including data, coverage, and test results regarding the quality of software/products or services under test. The Sr QE designs, creates, maintains, and executes functional test cases, test suites and test plans to determine if the software/product or service meets defined requirements. This position is also responsible for conducting training, leading the QE team on large scale projects and leading continuous improvement initiatives relating to streamlining testing and reporting processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform all responsibilities in accordance with BECU’s Competencies, compliance, regulatory, and Information Protection requirements.

Create and manage test plan templates, test plans, cases, scenarios, and scripts, both manual and automated, which exercise software systems under test, and provide detailed coverage of the product.

Using all forms of requirement documentation, create the test requirements that serve as acceptance criteria for Business, Product Management and/or Digital Channel stakeholders. Use said documentation to determine, test and verify intended functionality. Publish said documentation for training and general awareness.

Identify, document, and report bugs, errors, and other issues with software applications.

Maintain and update regression suites ensuring long-term quality.

Create, produce, and execute domain-specific (e.g., accessibility, security, compliance) tests across departments.

Produce reporting of test preparation activities, test execution, adherence to test schedule as published in the test plan, defect information, and other data significant to test progress.

Develop and maintain test artifacts using a test management application.
-
Provide a practical approach to complex testing, specifically in the areas of the test case automation for the purposes of regression testing.

Represent QE Team on cross-department quality initiatives and test environment planning. Conduct training and best practice sessions with QE Team.

Track, report on, automate collection, and ensure team accountability towards quality assurance metrics.

Make strategic technical decisions related to new products and functionalities.

Maintain the software testing leadership role within project teams including large and complex projects.

Serve as an escalation point for junior QEs for test planning and execution issues and project team issues.

Review and audit QE software test planning and execution.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience required.

Minimum five years of experience designing test cases and writing tests plans in a software delivery team environment required.

Multiple Software Testing Certifications required (within 3 years), including at least one security testing certification (within 2 years.)

Minimum five years of technical project experience, testing through a full system development life cycle.

Test lead or project management experience preferred.
-
Expertise in manual and automated test methodologies and test case management software tools (I.E. Azure DevOps Services, TestRail, or Jira).

Demonstrated knowledge of BECU software applications, products, services, and processes.
-
Experience in Testing devices e.g., tablets or phones required.

Strong attention to detail and analytical ability required. Demonstrated eye for aesthetics, design choices, and format consistency required.

Excellent computer related and developmental skills, with the ability to learn new software.

Basic knowledge of C# and PowerShell preferred. Experience with public cloud (Azure/AWS/Google Cloud) technologies preferred.

Excellent skills in Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel required.

Basic knowledge of SQL and NoSQL data retrieval methods required.

Excellent verbal and written skills to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff.

Excellent presentation skills to manage and coordinate user acceptance testing and software training.
