Overview of Position

The OPTAVIA Marketing team develops and executes strategies to promote products or services, reach target audiences, and drive customer engagement and conversion. The Sr. Data Analyst is responsible for providing specialized insights to this functional team to improve their decision-making. The individual will track, visualize, and analyze customer data, campaign performance metrics, and website analytics and use market research to assess the performance of marketing tactics. Additionally, they will partner cross-functionally with BI and Data to provide reporting and ensure data availability and accuracy. The ideal candidate will be passionate about using critical information to optimize performance, diagnose problems, and correlate user activity with long-term value.

Job Responsibilities

  • Business Insights: demonstrate a deep understanding of various business models and leverage advanced data analytics methods to formulate actionable insights and recommendations that drive marketing strategies.
  • Data Subject Matter Expert: identify data gaps by collaborating with product, data, and IT teams to optimize data workflows and ensure the accuracy and completeness of marketing analytics.
  • Presenting Data and Insights: create compelling analytical dashboards, visualizations, and presentations that empower decision-makers within the organization to make informed marketing decisions.
  • Stakeholder Partnership: think like a business owner, collaborate with stakeholders, and execute progressive analysis with indirect supervision to add value to and influence stakeholder decision-making to drive marketing success.
  • Analytical Modeling: possess the basic ability to formulate models for segmentation, sizing, prediction, and forecasting tailored specifically to marketing objectives.
  • Testing and test design: follow A/B testing best practices and execute analysis for A/B tests and experiments focusing on providing actionable insights that optimize campaign performance, user experience, and overall marketing effectiveness.
  • Mentorship: Serve as a senior mentor, providing expert guidance, coaching, and training to junior analysts, nurturing their development, and helping them excel in marketing analytics.

Scope

  • Works on complex issues requiring in-depth analysis of variable factors.
  • Selects methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria for obtaining results consistent with broadly defined policies, procedures, practices, and professional standards.
  • Uses innovative solutions to solve problems and modifies solutions when competing policies exist.
  • Exercises latitude to determine objectives.
  • Performs complex data analysis, which includes advanced modeling methods.
  • Independently presents findings to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Senior-level individual contributor focused on evaluating short-term and long-term strategies.
  • Makes recommendations to management and stakeholders from data analysis that has far-reaching implications.

Knowledge, Education, Skills & Abilities

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (advanced degree preferred)
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Mastery of advanced research methods, statistical techniques, and quantitative methodologies specifically applied to marketing analysis
  • Knowledge of digital marketing channels and metrics, such as SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems
  • Competent ability to translate business questions into technical requirements and analytical solutions
  • Competent ability to work with diverse audiences
  • Competent ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
  • Competent ability to present findings in a logical manner
  • Competent ability to effectively coach and mentor
  • Expertise with SQL and relational databases
  • Senior-level experience with programming/scripting languages (Python, R, etc.)
  • Senior-level experience with web analytics services (Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics, etc.)
  • Senior-level experience with business intelligence systems (Tableau, Domo, etc.)
  • Senior-level experience with workspace management services (Confluence [written], Lucid Chart [diagrammed], etc.)
  • Effective escalation, time management, and prioritization skills
