SUMMARY
The Sr. Manager, Performance Marketing is a dynamic, data-driven, best-in-class talent who will hold a critical role within the Paid Media team, managing paid search efforts for Zappos. You will be charged with owning the strategy, development, implementation, and ongoing management of search engine marketing campaigns with the goal of driving efficient sales.
The Sr. Manager, Performance Marketing is a SEM subject matter expert who serves as a large contributor to the overall success of our business, leading one of our largest channels. You will own the day-to-day paid search campaign management as well as help train, develop, and lead junior team members towards success. You are organized and have leadership qualities as you manage multiple projects with various stakeholders across the organization.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
Own the strategy, development and optimization of paid search campaigns to efficiently drive traffic and sales within ROAS constraints.
Monitor search performance to identify key trends and recommend advanced optimization techniques to drive account improvement.
Partner with our analytics, site, brand strategy/content teams to deliver high-quality campaigns and bring program strategies to life.
Optimize channel performance through structural improvements and Test & Learn strategies, with a failure fast or scale fast approach.
Liaise with the broader internal marketing and merchant teams as well as our agency to gain an understanding of campaign-specific goals, targeting and budgets, while collaborating on best practices and strategic recommendations.
Analyze KPIs on an ongoing basis to ensure that campaigns are maximizing return on ad spend.
Serve as the paid search expert, platform partner and trend-spotter to bring first-to-market paid search opportunities/testing of new betas that align with business objectives.
Drive paid search innovation within the team – identify and/or build tools to improve automation and help drive overall business results.
Partner with platform/vendor partners to implement best practices across paid media tactics.
Seek and develop innovative testing ideas and strategies that leverage identified opportunities as well as changes in technology and consumer behavior.
Ensure campaign launches are executed flawlessly with an eye on constant optimization.
Lead monitoring and analysis of campaign performance, using performance signals to inform optimization regimen and improve strategy.
Liaise with internal SEO and landing page teams to ensure strategies are in sync and identify opportunities for improvement along key purchase paths.
Manage our paid search agency, communicate tasks/projects needed and timeline requirements, provide strategic guidance and constructive feedback.
Translate desired overarching business needs and outcomes to specific search executions.
Have a working knowledge of the impact other channels have on search and vice-versa.
Work with 3rd party agencies who manage other channels for holistic planning and integration opportunity identification.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE
Bachelors degree, preferably in business administration/management, marketing, or a related discipline or equivalent years of experience.
At least eight (8) years of related marketing experience in an e-commerce company.
At least three (3) years of people management experience.
Deep knowledge of SEM best practices, tools and technologies.
Extensive experience with product listing ads (PLAs) and previous work with agencies is required.
Must understand key performance metrics against diverse marketing goals, and how to apply those KPIs to SEM execution, bid management, and insight development. Hiring, managing, and mentoring SEM & PLA teams.
Knows bid management and optimization and what levers to pull to maximize the goals of the SEM & PLA programs.
Has led large projects with a team taking direction, such as: restructuring campaigns, ad copy optimization, sitelinks optimization and/or launching remarketing.
Advanced Microsoft Excel experience.
Very strong organization, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.
Proactive and able to develop rapport and positive working relationships with coworkers and account executives.
The base pay range for this position is $155,000 to $170,500 per year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, a full range of medical and other benefits is offered.
