The Sr. Trading Contracts Negotiator will play a key role in assisting the Business to negotiate agreements, analyze general terms and conditions, and provide advice in new businesses and pre-deals. The Sr. Trading Contracts Negotiator will manage and maintain all contract templates, documentation and reporting systems, being the link between several internal and Corporate areas and the commercial groups.
Responsibilities:
  • Will draft, review and negotiate agreements (related to the sale and purchase of crude oil and products) always in line with internal guidelines and best practices with an emphasis on negotiating terms that maximizes value and mitigates contractual exposure. These agreements may include, amongst others: waterborne and pipeline sales and purchases, transport, tenders, storage, brokerage, and any other kind of agreements needed.
  • Will analyze and review different General Terms and Conditions, contracts and documents detecting risk and making recommendations.
  • Will assist traders and other departments in new business development or projects as needed.
  • Will give pre-deal advice to Front Office when required.
  • Will draft new contract templates and update the already existing ones.
  • Will collaborate and interact with several internal and corporate areas of the Company being the link between them and the Front Office and add value to this coordination function.
  • Will assist and help the business trying to find adequate contract solutions for their operations.
  • Maintain and manage documentation.
  • Maintain and report all requested KPI metrics as well as control the compliance with internal Procedures and Norms.
  • Will be continuously searching for new tools and ideas to improve the function as well as develop new processes and procedures as needed or improve the current ones.
  • Continuous improvement.
  • Attention to details, strong work ethic, able to produce results, proactive, self-motivated and able to handle tight deadlines, to prioritize and think out of the box.
Requirements:
  • Legal authorization to work in the US for any US employer.
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree.
  • A minimum of 3 years in a similar position in a Trading Department.
  • Legal knowledge about US law applicable to operations and contracts.
  • Solid understanding of oil and products international and domestic Trading operations and its contracts and general terms and conditions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to draft, analyze, interpret, and negotiate contracts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be self-motivated and eager to learn new tasks/jobs.
  • Must have the ability to work and think independently.
  • Must be organized and able to handle tight deadlines and to prioritize.
  • Must be proactive.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual Spanish
  • Law Degree
  • Experience with multi-national company.
