SRC, Inc. is currently seeking a systems safety engineer to work out of their corporate headquarters office in Syracuse, NY. As a systems safety engineer, you will work to help execute system safety programs across multiple cutting-edge product lines including electronic warfare (EW), advanced radars, and Counter Unmanned Aircraft Systems (CUAS). Your responsibilities will include ensuring that safety is designed into the hardware and software of these products, from contract start through certification. You will also provide a focal point for customer interaction for all safety related activities. As a member of the systems engineering team, you will play an integral role in all phases of product development. From requirements generation to sustainment activities, you will be responsible for safety throughout the life of a product.
What You’ll Do
- Work collaboratively with on-site and distributed cross-discipline project teams to support safety activities
- Support multiple concurrent program activities
- Analyze customer requirements and decompose into program/product specific safety requirements
- Interface with customers on safety related topics
- Generate and maintain safety related documentation including System Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Hazardous Materials Management Program (HMMP) reports, Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), as well as others
- Lead hazard analysis activities across multiple programs
- Review changes to products for their safety impact and participate in design Change Control Board (CCB) activities
- Support proposal efforts
- Review engineering design specifications, test procedures, and deviation/waiver requests for safety impacts
- Prepare material for government safety boards, program design reviews, and test readiness reviews
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline or related discipline
- Three (3) or more years of experience
- Ability to influence safety related practices at SRC
- Ability to clearly communicate concepts to team members verbally and in writing
- Ability to work on multi-disciplinary engineering teams
- Strong analytical and teamwork skills
Ways to Stand Out – Preferred Requirements
- One (1) or more dedicated years of safety experience
- Experience with radar and/or EW concepts
- Familiarity with MIL-STD-882, MIL-STD-1472, AMCOM Regulation 385-17, and DO-178C
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, think independently, and overcome technical challenges
- Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analyses, or Functional Failure Modes and Effects Analyses (FFMEAs)

Total compensation for this role is market competitive. The anticipated salary range for this position based out of Syracuse, NY is estimated at $85,000-$107,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant’s experience, skills, and abilities, geographic location as well as other business and organizational needs.
