Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
Position Summary:
The Dwight D. Eisenhower Distinguished Postdoctoral Fellowship is designed for the next generation of scientists and engineers who will excel in the application of fundamental science and engineering.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate scientific productivity through peer-reviewed publications and innovative research approaches to complex problems while working within a team environment.
Successful candidates will have critical thinking skills, data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability to explore innovative scientific concepts.
Candidates must be capable of scoping technical tasks and developing creative solutions. Candidates are also expected to effectively communicate technical results and show potential to generate novel ideas and convert them into future programs.
Successful candidates will be challenged to reexamine and push the norms, explore the unknown, and create new discoveries.
The Post-Doc Fellows are initial one-year appointments, with an option to renew up to three years. Publication of results from research efforts is highly encouraged.

Basic Education Qualifications
PhD in fundamental sciences or engineering obtained in the last three years or PhD students with expected completion dates within the next 12 months.
Other Required Qualifications
Candidates are expected to have demonstrated expertise in their field (e.g., invited presentations, book chapters, awards) and have, at minimum, one first author manuscript published in a highly regarded peer-reviewed journal.
Required at time of application submission:
1) detailed resume/CV that includes all relevant achievements and activities,
2) a research proposal white paper (up to two pages) aligned with SRNL’s core competencies or missions, and
3) a minimum of three references sent to Eisenhower@srnl.doe.gov.
Optional at time of application submission: 1) letter of support from an SRNL researcher sent to Eisenhower@srnl.doe.gov.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
