Savannah River National Laboratory (SRNL) is a multi-program laboratory applying state of the art science and practical, high-value, cost-effective solutions to complex technical problems to protect the nation. Located at the U.S. Department of Energy’s (DOE) Savannah River Site (SRS) in Aiken, SC, the laboratory develops and deploys innovative technologies to address some of the nation’s environmental, energy, and national security challenges.
Situated on the outskirts of South Carolina, SRNL is located approximately 20 minutes from Augusta, Georgia (home of the annual Master’s Golf Tournament) and 30 minutes from Fort Gordon (home of the new US Army Cyber Command). The complex is one hour from South Carolina's Capital: Columbia, within three hours of Charleston's beaches, and just a couple of hours from Greenville/Spartanburg, SC. Aiken is known for its famous thoroughbred horses, southern hospitality, growing community, thriving school district, numerous parks and golf courses, great weather, spacious avenues, and historical large and impressive homes.
The Earth, Biological and Quantitative Systems Science Division is looking for an energetic and engaging individual to join the SRNL Regulatory Center of Excellence (RCE) team as a Regulatory Policy Analyst.
The SRNL Regulatory Center of Excellence (RCE) was designed to bring together enhanced SRNL core competencies and Battelle Savannah River Alliance (BSRA) partner’s world-class capabilities to reduce environmental risk and liability across the DOE Office of Environmental Management (DOE-EM) Complex. The successful candidate will have a proven record of productive interaction with DOE program managers within the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, as well as potential industrial collaborators in the energy sector.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as regulatory policy expert related to DOE Complex-wide waste sites.
- Establish communications with Department of Energy, site contractors, national, state, and local regulators, including local Tribes, as well as non-government stakeholders in close proximity to the sites.
- Work with RCE Director, management and contractors to expand regulatory expertise at SRNL and assist in drafting responses to request for information from sponsoring agencies.
- Support SRNL RCE by establishing collaboration between technical and regulatory at individual DOE sites. Team with universities, including Battelle Savannah River Alliance partner universities, to develop regulatory and policy strategies for DOE Waste Site Stakeholders.

Basic Education Qualifications
Bachelor of Science and at least fifteen (15) years of experience related to environmental regulations and policy. Demonstrate experience in communicating regulatory requirements for DOE sites with stakeholders, at the local, state, national and international level.
Other Required Qualifications
Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
Master of Science and at least ten (10) years of experience related to environmental regulations and policy. Demonstrate experience in communicating regulatory requirements for DOE sites with stakeholders, at the local, state, national and international level.
