Staff Accountant - job 2 of 2

Physicians Mutual’s Accounting team is hiring! The Staff Accountant is responsible for establishing and adhering to Model Audit Rule controls. Supports all activities related to the implementation and utilization of a computer-based system to provide required planning, production, inventory control, distribution and accounts payable for all Company areas.

Duties include:

• Builds and maintains system reports for various Company areas.
• Works with internal and external sources to resolve questions concerning inventory balances.
• Works closely with the Accounting Support staff to establish process improvements and reporting.
• Performs miscellaneous accounting duties.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ degree with a major in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or Information System required.
• 2-3 years’ experience in an insurance, financial institution, or public accounting position with a strong understanding of financial/accounting concepts required.
• Demonstrate strong knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Office (Excel and Microsoft Word), database reporting software, General Ledger software and the ability to utilize personal computer for financial report preparation.
• Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with various internal and external personnel.
• Ability to adhere to internal control procedures to ensure protection of Company assets.
• Works with minimal supervision, manages own time effectively, maintains control over all current projects/responsibilities. Follows up on all relevant issues.
• Ability to recognize deviations from established corporate policies, business processes/internal controls.
• Working knowledge of Workday accounting system is preferred.
• Motivation to go beyond established guidelines and procedures to improve internal control and workflow.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,801.60 - $65,000.00 per year
