The Staff Accountant will be primarily responsible for the finance/accounting and related corporate reporting and controls for certain aspects of our global toy business. The Staff Accountant will assist with various internal and external reporting requirements as defined below and must be a hands-on performer. This position will report directly to the Accounting Manager.

Our corporate finance/ accounting team is designed in a manner to meet deadlines, provide accurate, timely and meaningful reporting results for internal use, plan for the financial needs of the business units and provide operational guidance to our Senior Leadership while complying with SEC guidelines.

What you will be doing:

• Manage the Company’s accounting and internal controls for specific general ledgers as well as managing specific accounts on a global basis.
• Manage the general ledger and monthly close for various subsidiaries.
• Increase efficiencies in the close process to reduce the financial close calendar.
• Participate in our quarterly royalty reporting process to licensors.
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations (i.e. Royalties, Commissions, etc.)
• Collaborate with Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable team members to resolve accounting issues and streamline processes.
• Support our Global Business Partners to provide accurate and timely financial data.
• Assist with various ad-hoc requests from Senior Management to improve financial visibility.

What we look for:

• The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 2-3 years in financial/accounting positions exhibiting the public and private experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance
• Experience in accounting and closing ledgers on a detailed transaction level.
• Exposure to internal management reporting or external reporting is a plus.
• Preferred but not required, licensed CPA.
• Working technical accounting experience
• Experience recording entries and closing accounting books and records - is transactional.
• Ability to identify issues, perform research and present possible solutions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
