Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the finance team and works with the various departments within Socotra. This position will play a key role in performing day-to-day AP / AR transactions, executing month-end and year-end financial close while also assisting with audits, and will be responsible for providing reporting to stakeholders. Things you will be working on:

• Perform account reconciliations, and assist with monthly close process
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual balance sheets and income statements
• Prepare accounts receivables invoices and make payments
• Full cycle accounts payable process: data entry, processing, and reconciliations
• Support audits of financial and regulatory reporting
• Participate in process improvements and the development and implementation of internal controls
• Assist with calculation and reconciliation of commissions and performance bonuses
• Problem-solving and contributing to the success of the team and other duties as assigned

We're looking for someone who has:

• 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred
• Experience with Xero or QuickBooks financial software
• Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
• Experience with commissions calculations a plus
• Strong attention to details and technical skills
• Skilled user of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and GSuite
• Knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Highly motivated, responsible, detail-oriented, and results-driven
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, manage priorities and workflow with a can-do attitude
• Good written and verbal communications skills are a must, with an emphasis on clear and professional responses to client inquiries and escalations
• Strong desire to tackle new challenges and projects with enthusiasm
