Position Summary

The Standards Alignment Specialist, ELA works with curriculum designers, digital developers, technology specialists, and the product team to demonstrate how ELA curricular products align to national and state standards. The Standards Alignment Specialist designs and manages complex metadata processes at the intersection of digital and print materials, ensuring Great Minds’ high quality, knowledge building curricula are accessible to all students.


This role is an exceptional opportunity for a technology-focused educator with experience with tagging, metadata, content taxonomy, and standards ingestion. Additionally, the ideal candidate possesses a strong understanding of the landscape and nuances of ELA state standards, a passion for high-quality, knowledge building curriculum, and the belief that every child is capable of greatness. While the work is remote and the ideal candidate will work well independently, this will also be a highly collaborative position, necessitating a strong sense of teamwork and cooperation.



Reports To:

  • Associate Director, ELA Design

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with various stakeholders across technology, program, and production services teams to design a system that ensures accurate and timely ingestion of all standards metadata
  • Use ELA content and standards expertise to create, review and/or edit both print and digital alignments developed for consistency with Great Minds’ editorial guidelines, ELA content accuracy, and unique expectations of state-specific standards, to ensure high quality, accurate alignments are consistently delivered to educators
  • Collaborate with the ELA editorial, design, and development teams to understand new instruction and assessment content and solicit their review on key alignments and questions to ensure accuracy across all state standards
  • Ensure precision, accuracy, and quality control with ELA standards coding, tagging, ingestion, and publishing in CMS
  • Compile, duplicate, and ingest state specific ELA standards against curricular products
  • Develop a deep understanding of the alignment rules for ELA curricular products and their correlation, and continually improve upon the alignment rules
  • Track changes to state standards across the country; correlate and map standard sets to ensure Great Minds ELA products remain aligned to current standards
  • Tag newly created content with appropriate state and national standards
  • Collaborate with Product, Program, and ELA Content Development teams when authoring digital alignments to ensure successful release of new and current curricular offerings
  • Embrace and exemplify a mindset that values an iterative cycle of ideation, thought partnering, prototyping, drafting, development, review, and revision
  • Adhere to a deadline-driven workflow by completing the appropriate scope and sequence of work within the timeline required
  • Collaborate effectively with the managers and curriculum developers within and across the Humanities department
  • Work with Program, Digital and Product departments to improve standard alignment processes


Requirements

  • Minimum of three years’ in curriculum and assessment development, including standards alignment and assessment design, or publishing experience
  • Proficiency with Excel including data analysis, metadata, reporting, manipulation, validation, and visualization
  • Experience working with a Content Management System (CMS) and/or background in digital publishing
  • Alignment to Great Mind’s ELA instructional design and pedagogy
  • Thorough understanding of CCSS and ELA standards across the 50 states, including prerequisite knowledge of subject-specific content in ELA
  • Outstanding Excel skills with the capacity to handle incredibly precise and detail oriented work
  • Proven ability to maintain accuracy and a sharp eye for detail
  • Ability to recognize content concepts and tag standards accordingly
  • Understanding of how instructional scope and sequences and/or prerequisite skills impact educator uses of product alignments to standards
  • Clear and succinct writing skills, with the ability to produce content aligned to the organizational and product vision
  • Ability to problem solve to create high-quality products by established deadlines
  • Strong organizational habits necessary for successful goal setting, project management, collective decision making, deadline execution, and record keeping
  • Capacity to navigate the Great Minds climate, where leadership often drives vision and content decisions

The salary range displayed is specifically for those potential hires who will work or reside in the state of Colorado if selected for the role. For residents of the State of Colorado the expected salary range for this position is $63,353.99-$74,440.94. This range may vary above and below the expected amounts in the State of Colorado. In addition to the Company's benefit offerings, the position may be eligible for additional annual incentives at the Company's discretion. Any offered salary and other incentives are based on market data, applicant skills and relevant experience, degrees, certifications and internal equity considerations.
