ADCRR is redefining itself as an agency whose daily work centers on transparency, accountability, and fairness.SYSTEMS/LOCAL AREA NETWORK ADMINISTRATORJob Location:Address: Information Technology Bureau701 East Jefferson StreetPhoenix, Arizona 85034https://corrections.az.gov/Posting Details:Salary: $61,560.00Grade: 23Closing Date: 09/13/2024Job Summary:The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a Systems/Lan Administrator who will be responsible for the technical development and maintenance of Local Area Networks (LAN) and Information Technology systems and services. This position will also be responsible for maintaining mission-critical networks in optimal operation performance, installing end-user software/hardware, computer imaging, remote troubleshooting issues, and problem solving complex technical systems utilizing advanced networking technologies.Job Duties:- Troubleshoots complex hardware and software problems in support of end-users- Answers incoming phone calls with a strong emphasis on customer service- Installs, configures, and upgrades client workstation operating systems and applications- Initiates and enforces network security via passwords, anti-virus software, and intruder detection programs- Creates, modifies, moves, and deletes user accounts in conjunction with customer service- Plans, tests, and implements Local and Wide Area Network development specifications- Prepares reports and develops technical implementation plans- Attends training classes, seminars and keeps abreast of current industry trends- Drives on State business- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignmentKnowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):Knowledge of:- Network topology, network resources, Transmission Control Protocol, and Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)- Personal Computer (PC) operating systems and hardware- Telecommunication systems- Printers, copiers, scanners, and faxes- Application software- Managing anti-virus, Active Directory user accounts and resources, email accounts, Smartphones, and data backup systems including media management- Managing network resources- Installing, testing, and repairing telecommunication equipment, voice and data lines, CATV, digital conferencing, and IP surveillance cameras- IT Service management methodologiesSkill in:- Verbal and written communication- Building and maintaining interpersonal relationships- Technical troubleshooting and problem-solving- Project management and implementation- Report preparation- Testing telecommunication equipment and diagnosing malfunctions- Time management, prioritization, and organization- Identifying and interpreting end-user issues- Grammatical competencyAbility to:- Lift/carry 50 lbs.- Push/pull 100+ lbs.- Walk/run 1+ miles- Learn and adhere to ADCRR policies and procedures- Analyze and diagnose problems related to operating and network systems and develop effective solutions- Understand complex interrelated technology and software functions- Enhance and maintain operating systems and related software to optimize computer performance- Consult on issues and requests from end-users- Provide remote troubleshooting over the phone- Be self-motivated and perform duties unsupervised- Work in a prisonSelective Preference(s):- Network certification (i.e., Microsoft Solution Expert Certification (MCSE) or Computing Technology Industry Association A+ Certification (CompTIA A+)- A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a service desk environmentPre-Employment Requirements:Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation and possibly a medical/physical examination.In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.)
