The Chief Nurse Consultant is responsible for consulting delivering hospitals and providing timely guidance to advance the clinical care for maternal and neonatal outcomes. They do this by reviewing hospital policies, interviewing providers, bedside clinicians, senior administration, and other team members to ensure the hospitals success.Salary Statement:The salary for this position traditionally starts at $53,222.00 but may be commensurate with education or work experience.A Day in the Life:The essential functions of this role are as follows:• Coordinate community health care programs which involves working with health departments, schools, clinics, public and private childcare facilities, abused or neglected children, home health agencies and rural health care services.• Work with community physicians and health care professionals to establish improved reporting and communication between the medical provider community and the state agency staff.• Coordinate other programs such as school health, migrant health, health promotion and disease prevention programs for children and adults.• Work in collaboration with other health and social service providers to facilitate the delivery of health and development services.• Review medical records and provides professional medical opinions and recommendations.• Visit patients to assess the medical needs, monitor for signs of distress and develop recommendations on how to address any identified needs or concerns.• Follow up on clients and patients to ensure recommendations are followed and medical needs are addressed.• Act as a liaison between state agency and community partners to facilitate communication/ collaboration and ensure health and medical needs are being addressed.• Assist in developing diagnostic and treatment plans for clients/patients.• May provide consultation on communicable disease control and screenings.• Arrange and conduct in-service and/or continuing education programs.The job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
