Role Overview:
Seasonal Environmental Assistants should expect to work primarily in an office setting with field days during the summer season. They will be responsible for managing project items as assigned which could be comprised of Early Coordination Letters, Coordination Review, preparation of Red Flag investigations and more in relation to the NEPA Process. The best candidate will have experience in drafting technical documentation, some field experience, and time management skills.
Salary:
This position traditionally starts at an hourly rate of $16.24 an hour. Salary for this position may be commensurate with education and job experience.
Location:
This position is located in INDOT’s Fort Wayne District.
A Day in the Life:
• Collects, researches, and digitizes environmental data;
• Collects and analyzes field data;
• Prepares environmental documents for various INDOT projects, including the development and coordination of environmental related reports;
• Ensures compliance with federal & state regulations;
• Provides related technical assistance in development & maintenance of tracking logs using data base management systems; and
• Performs other job related duties as required.
What You'll Need for Success:
• Currently enrolled or recent graduate of an Environmental or closely related (e.g. geology, archaeology, natural resources, ecology, etc.) program.
Benefits of Employment with the State of Indiana:
This seasonal position does not offer benefits and is limited to 180 working days in an eleven (11) month continuous period
